-flashback-
i already knew it was morning; the sun was shinning directly on my face, but i wasn't going to move. i was too happy to move. so, instead, i simply smiled and let the sun glow on my face as i rolled over in bed.
"ricky," her soft voice called out from the open area in our hotel room, only making me beam more.
she knew i was awake; she always does. but my theory was confirmed when i felt a weight next to me on the bed and small fingers in my hair.
"ricky," she called again. "wake up."
this time i listened to her and opened my eyes just a slit. she was already smiling at me, wearing my favorite shirt like a dress and athletic shorts underneath. i hummed lightly, curling into her side and holding her closer.
"you're happy this morning." she giggled, her fingers continuing to move through my hair.
"i don't understand how i couldn't be." i responded. "you're my wife and we are on our honeymoon in paris. this has to be a dream."
her soft lips pressed against my temple, making my eyes flutter shut once more at the contact. "you're not dreaming, honey. this is real life, and it's real time. so get up."
i laughed loudly, sitting up in the bed and finally getting a good look at her. i couldn't help but sigh; she really was the most beautiful girl in the world, and she was my wife. what did i do to deserve this? it must've been something right, because dang. i love her so much.
"hi!" she giggled, her warm fingers running lightly against my cheek. i couldn't help but smile. there was just too much happiness all around me to not smile.
"hi." i whispered back. leaning into her touch, i glanced out the window to see the eiffel tower. that made my smile wipe off my face quickly, and she automatically noticed.
"don't think about it." she said. gently, her forehead found it's place against mine and her eyes fluttered shut. "we are going to make so many memories here, that you are just going to forget about all the memories last time."
my frown deepens. "i just don't get it. they told me that they decided to get a divorce here and fought the whole trip, but it didn't happen. then, she cheated on my dad with her boss, i found out, and she left for a few months. she came back, got back together with my dad, but was dating someone else the last three years of their 're-marriage', then they divorced my senior year and she's engaged after three weeks. i don't know how i'm supposed to just forget that."
i feel her gentle hands move to hold either side of my face, and she pulls back to look at me. "just try not to think about it. because, we are going to go everywhere you went and remake the memories, but make them better. this is our honeymoon, ricky, the past can't ruin it."
i nodded against her head. "not this time."
once again, her lips press the top of my head, and i couldn't help but grin. she was always good at that; making me smile when she knew i needed it . that's why i love her; well, that, and many other reasons.
she hugged my head tightly, making me let out a soft chuckle. "i love you ricky." she stated, firm but kind.
i grinned in return. "i love you too, ellie."
".... good, because i want a dog."
-flashback over-
"i want a dog!"
