THE FOLLOWING MORNING WAS not what I would've expected. Usually, in the stories I read, the hero would get their perfect and happy ending after they had true love's kiss. It was as though the world became kinder to you once you kissed someone.

I soon realized this was not one of those stories.

The warm, tingly and happy sensation I woke up feeling was short-lived. As I headed down the stairs for breakfast, a small ball of energy carrying a cherry tart, ran straight into me.

"Ooooh, Hyacinth you're going to be in so much trouble," Gregory's cheeky face appeared around the corner behind Hyacinth.

I looked down. The front of my blue dress now had a glob of cherry jelly on the front, and I could see it was already leaving a stain.

"It's Gregory's fault," Hyacinth immediately said, pointing a finger at her brother.

"Is not," Gregory booked it around the corner and back downstairs hollering, "MoTHER, ANTHonY, BEnEDiCT, DaPHNE,"
