*doing a bit of a time skip here*
Raelynn POV
We were able to catch up to Cameron and talk him into coming back to camp. We all talked with Chiron and decided that until we found out what my old friend and Cameron's supposed twin were up to it would be best for everyone to stay away from them.
The days past by normally after that. I didn't have many more dreams of them, only one. Layla was in a cave talking to someone but I couldn't tell who it was or what they were saying so the information wasn't very helpful.
The week leading up to finally visiting my . . . mom was a bit nerve racking. I had spent most of my time hanging out with Cameron or practicing with a sword, something I seemed to be pretty good at. I tried to not really think about meeting her but my mind was constantly racing.
Would she like me? Would she recognize me?
Would she even want to see me?I shared my worries with Percy and he assured me everything would be fine and Sally Jackson would welcome me with open arms, but . . . I was still afraid of what was to come.
The morning finally came when we were to head out for Percy's house. Originally Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Frank, Cameron, Leo, Hazel, and Calypso were supposed to come along but over the week Hazel had injured her foot while horseback riding and decided to stay at came with Frank staying also to take care of her. (just ignore that Frank and Hazel are technically meant to be at camp Jupiter same with Jason) Leo and Calypso had apparently had a disagreement and went talking at the moment so neither of them were going either, and Jason and Piper decided to just have the weekend to themselves.
In the end only Percy, Annabeth, Cameron and I were going.I woke up early to go for a walk before we left. I already packed the night before, but it didn't take me long anyway, being at camp only a week my wardrobe only consisted of bright orange camp shirts and shorts.
I tied my hair back in a ponytail not wanting to deal with it right now. I left the cabin silently, although I think I could have banged pots and pans together and Percy wouldn't have heard a thing over the sound of his own snoring.
Stepping outside I breathed in the morning air. The air was cool and crisp this early in the morning and I was one of probably only three or four people awake.
The sun had just begun to come above the horizon creating a beautiful show of yellow and orange in the sky.I took to walking along the beach. It was the best place for me to clear my mind and I always felt at peace next to the ocean. Since not many people were out right now I could hear the soft crashing of the waves against the sand.
Pausing a moment, I looked out across the water. The view was gorgeous here and I finally felt like I was where I was meant to be.
Usually my mornings would have been filled with my
nasty foster brothers giving me demands and my cruel foster mom yelling insults at me. I was never given this type of peace in the morning.Hearing the sound of footsteps behind me I turned around to see Cameron walking over to me.
"Mornin'" He said giving me a smile.
"Morning" I smiled backThis had become quite a routine for us. We both seemed to like the quietness of early mornings at camp. Often he would find me walking along the beach and come out to meet me and talk.
I liked our little morning conversations. Some days we talked about simple things like favorite colors and favorite singer. Other days we had a bit deeper conversations. I told him about my foster mom and foster brothers, about how they basically treated me like a maid. He told me things about him too, like that he's a child of Apollo and about the rest of his family.
