Unexpected Journey

It was around 5am as we headed to the airport. I laid my head on his shoulder as we sat in the back of the uber. Just being around him makes my calm; all is well in my world when Nick is around.

"How you feeling babe?" Asks Nick.

"Better now." The love I have for this man shone through my eyes. Anyone with eyes could see.

We boarded the plane and not too long after take off; I fell asleep. I felt Nick shifting me so that he could get up at one point. I felt a light kiss on forehead and a faint goodbye but I told myself I was dreaming.

The next thing I know I'm being gently awakened by a flight attendant telling me they had landed and it was time to get off.

I looked around for Nick but I didnt see him or his luggage. "Ma'am do you know where my boyfriend is?"

"Oh you mean the man you boarded the plane with?"

"Yes, where is he?" I asked gathering my hand luggage in a rush, as my heartbeat sped up, signaling something was off.

"I'm sorry miss but I havent seen him in about an hour."

"An hour!" I said in shock.

I exited the plane in shock. I walked in what felt like a fog as I called Nick's phone for what felt like hours and got no answer.

With tears running down my face and looking for a place to sit, I tripped over a lady who was tying one of her sons laces.

"Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry, are you ok?" I asked the woman after I got up off the floor.

"I'm fine thanks but I should be asking you that. Are you in any pain?" She asks when she sees the tears on my face.

We hear giggles and looked up at the boys.

"Oh that's funny to you two?" I pretended to be upset with them. But they laughed even more.

"I like her mommy." Said the oldest.

Then the other brother said, "me too; and she's pretty."

"They are adorable. How old are they?" Asked Bree.

"Tyler right here is three. And Kai is four." Kai made a face when she ruffled his hair.

I chuckled at that. "I'm so rude, my name is Brianna; Bree for short."

"My name is Kia. Would you mind if I bought you a frappuccino to make up for almost killing you?"

"Why not; I don't have anything else to do?" Bree said solemnly to herself.

Kia and I talked for hours in the airport. She told me she was returning from a trip to California with the boys when I ran into her.

I told her I have a bestfriend there and I plan to visit soon.

I found out that she owns half of the hotel that I would be staying in for the next two weeks and decided to give me a ride instead of me taking an uber.

Meeting Kia really took my mind off Nick deserting me. But once I closed my door, reality set in that I was totally alone on this island. I cried for hours on end.

The following morning I woke up on the floor in my clothes from the previous day.

I showered and headed to the beach for an early morning run. When I got back to the hotel, I saw Kia greeting a couple and trying to keep the boys from running around at the same time. Just as she got them to stand still; Tyler saw me and ran straight into my arms. I lifted him up and he kissed me on my cheek.

"Eww you're all sweaty and stinky. Put me down." Tyler said as his mother ran towards us with Kai on her hip.

"Oh thank God. I'm happy you have him."

"I didn't find him, he found me and now he regrets it because I'm all sweaty and stinky,"

"Hahahaha, well that's what he gets for running away from me. You gave mommy a heart attack." Kia said with a chuckle.

"You seem to have your hands full, would you mind if I watched them after I take my shower?" Bree said as she tickled the boys.

"Yea!" The boys said in unison.

"I really wouldn't mind. You'd be doing me a favor actually."

Kia finally gave in. "Okay, as long as you're sure about it. They may look cute, but they are a handful.

"I'm sure; I'll be back." I walked away swiftly to my room.

Time flew by when I was with the kids. We played hide and go seek, played with Legos and so much more. When Kia got off work, she found us on the beach asleep. Kai had his head on her chest and Tyler was clinging unto her left arm as he slept peacefully. Kia snapped a quick pic before waking them.

"Hey guys, did you miss me?" Asked Kia.

"Mommy!" Kai jumped into her arms and littered her face with kisses. He went on and on about how much fun they had with Bree. Tyler on the other hand didn't budge when we tried to wake him so, Bree picked him up and took him up to Kia's room.

From that day on the four of them were inseparable. Kia asked Bree if she would be their nanny a couple days after. Bree didn't need much convincing. She said yes and decided to stay and live in Hawaii. That is the most memorable and life changing trip. Now that was an unexpected Journey.
