I'm finally done with my exams, so I'm gonna be writing more now that that's over with and the lighter load of the new semester.
this Chapter gets a little angsty, but it's not too bad.
**********Donavan's POV
August was now out of the room I was left to deal with myself and my thoughts. This was not suppose to turn out like this, we were suppose to let him come to him by himself. But I just had to mess it up, I need to tell the others.
Most of them should still be down stairs, I thought as I hesitantly opened my door. As I thought, the boys were still in the living room. I was still worried about their reactions but I have to say something.
"So," I drag it out much more then it needed to be, "you can't be mad."
Rick tilted his head in concern, Max had his head in Ricks lap as his undone hair was getting pet. "is everything ok?" Rick asked in a gentle tone.
"Well you see, long story short. I accidently kissed Augustus and he ran away." I said it in the most nonchalant manner I could maintain.
There was a moment of uncomfortable silence, were it felt like he had stopped time it was so silent. But the short silence was broken from a quite laugh from Max that quickly grew, he laughs so he doesn't have to deal with serious situations.
The living broke out into chatter of 'oh shits' and 'what do we do's' Rick stayed silent clearly blaming himself for the mess they were in.
"Hey!" Quinn's smooth British accent broke through the commotion. "I'm just going to clarify, that I was against the idea from the beginning. Because I knew is wasn't going to work, we don't live in a Hollywood movie were you fall in love with your room mate and things just work out, ok." Quinn bashed our idea in his snobby voice.
Rick stands up from his seat on the couch. "Quinn's right, It was a stupid idea and it's all my fault," Rick said in a voice lased with sadness. Rick didn't give room for anyone else to speak before continuing, "I'm gonna go talk to him." Rick disappears around the corner as he heads upstairs.
Rick's POV
I hesitantly knock on Augusts door, a moment of silence before a quiet voice asks, "who is it?"
"It's Rick" I quickly respond, trying to keep my composure. "Can I come in."
There was another moment of silence before august responded with a quick, "ya." I slowly open the door, it squeaked a little.
August sat on his bed, he didn't seem to be doing anything except for maybe thinking. I took a seat at the end of his bed, a little hesitant to speak as it was quite awkward. There was a soft moment of silence, as I tried to plan my words carefully.
"Is the-there something you need?" August asked, his voice a little shaky.
"Um, ya. I'm sorry about what happened earlier," I took a short pause as I thought of what to say. "It was my fault, so don't be mad at Donavan." Augusts face now contorted with confusion. I didn't stop to ask why he was confused, I just wanted to get this conversation over with.
I continued, "It was my stupid idea to bring you into this in the first place, so if your going to blame anyone, blame me." But Augusts face only showed more confusion.
August said nothing, so I kept taking, "look I'm sorry, I don't know why I thought this would work. We knew nothing about you, so why did I think it would work out. Of course you don't like us, you probably don't even like guys. Why did I think you would be ok with a relationship like this, polyamory and stuff. GHA, RICK YOUR AN IDIOT!" I listened to myself as my calm dimeter dissolved into nothing an I came undone.
I looked over to August who looked like he was having some kind of metal crisis. He let his head fall into his hands before murdering, "That makes a lot more sense." there was a short pause before his head was taken out of his hands, he turns his head over to me. There was a guilty look on his face.
"I'm sorry, I mi-isunderstood what your relationship was, p-p-polyamory m-akes a lot more sense," his words were quiet. Most likely embarrassed. He continued to speak before I could process what he was saying. "I-I have no problem with-with it, I do-don't hate any-any of you. If I fully under-understood, I would have excepted. I-I like the I-dea, but I'll-I'll need ssome time."
What he head just said hit me like a bus, did he just say 'yes'. My mind jumps into action 'HE JUST SAID 'YES'.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS,"
Bonus, for the sake of heathy communication
It was later that night, August had had a talk with the others about the situation. We decided we'll talk more about it tomorrow, which was a good idea, it was late.
I heard a scratch at the door, it was too quiet to be Micky. So it was probably Liz. I opened the door to let her in, but was instead greeted by Quinton. Quinn pushed his way through and sat on the bed, he opened his mouth but no words came out.
He was clearly upset and when he was upset his natural reaction was to hide away in kitty-space, this often times left him non-verbal. I sat down beside him and patently wait till he can muster up his voice.
"I'm sorry," he starts with a almost whispered voice. "About what I said earlier, I didn't mean to say it was your fault. Look we should just be glad it worked out. But I am sorry for being a prick."
"I'm not mad at you, not all. You were right to say it was a stupid idea." I laugh a little trying to brighten my kittens mood. "Come on, you should go to bed," I pat the spot beside me letting him curl up to my side and drift of to sleep.
