Chapter Three

The Great Hall stood big and tall. It was magical. There were lengthy wooden tables, filled with scholars. The room was nicely lit with candles, which gave a warm feel to the cold stone walls. The roof had a very strange structure that was attached to the walls. The ceiling was just like Draco had said, it looked like the real night sky, yet it seemed to look more magical than ever. The blonde girl made her way up to the front with the smaller kids, her heels clicking louder on the stone floors with every step she made. All of the first year's looked at her as if she was an imposter among them. They certainly made her feel like one. Many kids sitting at the tables were also looking at her. She kept her head down as she hated being the center of attention. After a few minutes of waiting and talking the sorting was about to commence. A few students were called and the girl could feel herself getting more nervous every time they called a new name. Eventually, they reached they started calling the 'M' last names.

"Malfoy, Y/N." Called one of the professors.

The girl's head bolted up and looked at the professor. She nodded and the girl slowly walked through the crowd of younger children. She could feel everyone's eyes on her back which made her spine shiver. She could also hear them whispering. She took a seat on the stool they had been using looked at her feet. She knew Draco was staring at her and it made her feel worried. What if she didn't make it into Slytherin? Would her family still like her? Would her father be proud of she made it into the house? She sighed as she felt the old hat get positioned on her head.

"Hmm... This is very interesting." The hat spoke above her which made her jump. A few laughs could be heard throughout the room. The girl blocked them out and focused on the hat. "Another Malfoy it seems. Well, this is an easy job for me. Let it be..." The hat shouted as the girl closed her eyes tightly. "Ravenclaw!" The girl opened her eyes slowly and looked up. Everyone was staring at her and her eyes met Draco's. She couldn't tell what expression he wore which made her worry. Shaking her head she slowly made her way to the clapping table.

"Over here!" A voice rang out from the crowd.

The girl looked in the direction of the voice and saw a waving hand and a familiar face. She smiled and made her way to the person.

"Hi." The blonde girl said shyly as she took a seat on the benches.

"Congratulations on being a Ravenclaw." Dixon said.

"Thank you. " Y/N said.

"I hope we are roommates." The brunette said.

"I hope so too. I wouldn't want to room with strangers.." She said.
