Venus
I stand in the middle of the huge mansions doorway completely dumbfounded. I look down at the papers in my hand and read across my fathers words once again.Hersperus, I leave you this mansion I bought on earth. I'm so sorry I had to leave you. I hope you'll figure out what to do with it. I will forever be in your heart and you in mine.
-Your fatherWhy would he leave me a mansion? Out of all things. I let my arm drop and look around. It really is glorious. The floors made of marble. The stair case leading upstairs is made of a beautiful wood. I look to my right and go through the door. It leads me right to the kitchen. The long counters, the huge fridge, the beautiful island in the middle makes me stare in awe. I see another door to my left and walk through it. A long dining table that could fit around 30 people sits next to a wall of windows that outlooks a beautiful back yard and woods. I smile as my eyes set on the beautiful lake and trees in the distances. I open the sliding door and step onto the huge deck that has two tables and many comfortable looking chairs. I inhale the morning air before going back inside. I leave the kitchen and step onto the first step of the stair case. I look to my left and see a hallway. I back up and walk down it. Four big rooms lay here. I open one and look at the high as fuck ceiling. I release a shaky breath and go back to the stair case. I walk up it and stare at the exquisite red carpet. There are around 10 rooms on this floor that makes me stop and look at all the doors. I walk into the room at the end of the hall way on the right and look at the wall-to-wall bed. I frown as I see a box on one of the nightstands. I walk up to it and pick it up. I sit down and open the box and pull out a card. I pick up the letter inside and open it slowly.
Hesperus, I give you all the money you will need for years to come. Don't ever worry about it running out, I've got you covered.
-your fatherI frown but thank my father in my head. I stand and put the card in my wallet. I walk out and look around. "These room will need redone." I mumble to myself and I pull out my phone.
********************************************After four months all the rooms, kitchen, dining room, and the yards are redone. It's been lonely and I've had no luck with figuring out why my father did this. I'm sure it'll come to me soon, though.
I smile as I grab my jacket and begin to walk out to my new garage. I drive to town and get out to shop at the street venues. I pick up a variety of fruit and vegetables. As I'm walking I spot a skinny boy who's picking up something from the ground. My eyes widen as I see a glass jar shattered on the ground. His shaky fingers are bleeding as he tries to pick it all up. I slowly walk over and bend down.
"You're hurting yourself. You can get more of whatever was inside." I tell him and I notice he's desperately trying to pick up little seeds.
"I-I can't get more!" He sobs, "it took me weeks just to collect half a jar. They're out of season now and I fucking dropped them!" He covers his face and sobs into his hands.
"Hey, it's going to be okay. Why do you need these so bad?"
"B-because I n-need them for h-herbal teas." He sniffs and look at me with red, watery purple eyes. I stare in awe as he stares back at me. "Y-you're like me?" He asks softly. I nod,
"I am. Come here." I help him stand and catch him as he stumbles. I look down at his skinny form with a frown.
"Have you not been eating? You're so skinny."
"I-I have no home, sir." I frown and slowly lead him the way to my car.
"Why is that?"
"I was abandoned when I was little because my parents were afraid of me."
"Afraid? Why?"
"Because I am not human." I sigh,
"You still shouldn't have gone through that. How do you make money? Where do you stay at night and when it's cold?"
"I make money by selling the teas I make. I stay in an alley and try to stay in restaurants and gas stations for as long as I can when it's cold out."
"Come with me, okay? I can give you a place to stay."
"T-thank you."I watch as the boy scarfs down his second plate of pancakes. His bandaged hands not stopping him. He looks up at me with stuffed cheeks,
"Your stomach hurt?" He nods, "told you you should've slowed down." I chuckle. He shrugs and slowly sips his juice.
"Can I sleep here?" He asks shyly. I smile as I'm wiping the counter of flour and pancake mix.
"You can stay here, uhh... what's your name?"
"My mother called me Asclepios, but I always say Lepple."
"Lepple... well Lepple, you can stay here for as long as you need."
"But I couldn't intrude-,"
"Does it seem like you're intruding? This house is huge and so lonely. Plus, I've got plenty of empty rooms and plenty of food. Come here." He follow me as I open a two doored pantry. It's filled with food making Lepples eyes widen. "Oh wow." I smile,
"This is your home now, Lepple. If you'd like." He smiles up at me tearfully and sniffs,
"T-thank you s-so much!" He hugs me making me smile. As I look down at him it finally comes to me.
