'So.' I said as we walked down the isle in the supermarket. 'You've been acting really weird all morning, what's wrong?' I asked as I threw packets of chocolate into the cart. 'Top or mint?' I asked holding up two types of chocolate and he pointed to top deck.
'It's nothing, just...' He said pushing the cart along as I walked in front.
'What?' I laughed and he looked at me with sad eyes.
'I said I loved you last night and you didn't say it back, are we moving too fast for you? Do you not want to say it? Are you not ready to say it?' I froze and looked over at him before looking down at the brownie mixes.
'I...'
'Don't say it now because I'm forcing you to.' He said sounding angry and I curled into myself a little.
'No, it's not that, I do, you know, what you said but I... The last time I said that was to my dad before he left and now I'm scared that if I say it again then something bad is going to happen to the person I say it to, and I don't want to lose you. So I want you to know, I do I just, I just can't say it out loud.' I said holding myself tightly.
'Babe, I'm sorry.'
'It's okay, it's not your fault I just, I can't lose you. You're like the one good thing that's happened to me since my dad died and I don't want you to go away.' I said looking at him. He walked behind me and threw his arm over my shoulder, resting his head on my opposite one.
'That's okay, but I'm going to say it until you're so loved and safe that you say it back.' I felt my face redden as I reached up and squeezed his hand, leaning into him a little. 'Because I love you.' He whispered and I felt like my head was going to explode. He chuckled before squeezing my ass and walking off, I took a minute to myself before wandering after him. We got all kinds of things, things we probably weren't even going to eat but it was fun shopping with him. We did get him a toothbrush though, for when he stays over because we have decided that this is going to become a regular thing. We were at the check out and I was putting things up on the counter when I noticed him staring at me.
'What?' I laughed and he shrugged.
'Just lookin''. He grinned and handed me the three bottles of chocolate sauce.
'You realise we're not going to eat all of this right?' I smiled and he shrugged again with a grin.
'That's okay, just means we're in supply for next time.' I shook my head and let him move around me to the other side so he could put the bags back in the shopping cart. The girl at the counter was grinning as she rung up the pricing; she looked like she was a little older than us, maybe early twenties?
'Can I just say something?' She asked and I looked at her surprised, Eric busy with the bags. 'You and your boyfriend are so cute, like you two have made my day.' She smiled and I felt my cheeks warm.
'Thanks,' I said trying to hide my face. I heard that weird noise again and turned around looking for what ever it was. 'Did you hear that? Like a weird snapping noise?' She looked around.
'No, sorry.' I smiled and shook my head, taking my card back.
'It's fine, thank you again.' I smiled pushing Eric out of the lane.
'What were you thanking her for?'
'Secret.' I grinned and he gave me a confuse smile before we left the store. We got inside and dropped the bags, Eric instantly wrapping himself around me, and I smiled leaning back into him.
'I just want to touch you, all the damn time, stop being so sexy.' He said kissing my neck. I turned and jumped up on the table pulling him between my legs.
