Chapter 12: The Flash Back

Katie's POV

Halfway to the living room a thought came up to me. I grabbed Sam's arm. She looked at me. She gave me a confused look.

"Come on." She nodded still unsure and we snuck outside. Hopefully the boys won't notice we haven't come yet for a good 20 minutes. We headed to the garden. When we got to the entrance Sam stopped me.

"Okay what is it."

"I uh. Nothing." She raised an eyebrow damn she knew me well. "I was just thinking. What if having boyfriends change us. I mean I know I've changed now that I'm dating Calum, what if you get into a relationship and it changes you? I don't want us to go away. I love how we joke around and mess with each other you know what I mean?" Sam laughed a little. She put a hand up to my forehead.

"Sam. What are you doing?"

"Checking you temperature." She looked at me. "Are you okay?" I nodded.

"Yeah I'm just thinking to much." She laughed a little.

"How did we go from carefree, to my worrying, to you overthinking?" We both laughed and I shrugged.

"Do you remember when we first met Sam?" She nodded with a huge smile.

"Yeah. It was at the beach. We became friends instantly. Then I realized I was your new neighbor. We made our moms take us to the beach everyday."

"I remember that one time when we got those new sunglasses and lip gloss. You got the pink one."

"And you got the purple." We both laughed. "You looked like you kissed the flyin purple people eater guy from that song." We both laughed really hard.

"I remember that day."

Flashback~~

Told in 3rd person.

"Hey mom. Who's that?" The little girls mom look to where her daughter Katie was pointing.

"I don't know baby. Probably someone new in town."

Katie walked over to them. She saw there was a girl about her age. She was blonde, had blueish grayish eyes. She was the same height. Katie decided to be friends with this girl. She walked over to her. The girl was helping her mom unpack the beach stuff.

"Alright baby go on and play. Make some friends." The girl nodded and was about to run off when she saw Katie. She slowly walked over to Katie with her head held high.

"Hi. I'm Katie. I'm one of the coolest girls you'll ever meet!" Katie said with a big grin. The girl smiled.

"Hi. I'm Sam. I'm new in town. We just moved into this big pretty house." Katie smiled.

"It's nice to meet you Sam. Here let me introduce you to my friends. We're the coolest." Katie said with a sly grin. "You'll like us very much." Sam nodded and followed.

Katie brought Sam to a group of kids who were around their age. "Katie. Who's this?" One of the boys asked while looking at her.

"Guys this here is Sam. She's our new friend." They all nodded.

"I'm Jake." One of the boys said.

"You guys are slow." Katie said with a grin. She turned towards Sam then back to the group. "He is Jake, she is Lucy. Don't get on her bad side."

"Hey!"

"Sorry." Katie put her hands up in defense. "That is Harry."

"Oh I know Harry." Sam said with a laugh. Harry stood up and hugged her. All of the kids were utterly confused.

"What's up?"

"Oh you know moving into town." The two kids laughed.

"How do you two know each other?" Lucy asked.

"Step siblings." They said at the same time.

"Nice." Katie went on introducing the rest of the group.

"Hey. Katie and Sam wanna meet my new group?"

"Sure but we are still your group right?"

"Of course. Now come on." The two girls chased after Harry. They came up to a group of boys. Harry introduced them all.

The blond one was Niall. The boy with black hair was Zayn. The one with brown hair and was serious looking was Liam. The one with a huge grin on his face was Louis. He's the clown of the group.

Niall was looking at Sam with a huge smile. Katie noticed this.

"Well we're gonna go. So bye guys."

"Bye Harry." Sam told Harry.

"How do you know Sam?" Niall asked Harry.

"Step siblings." He ran over to Sam and Katie. He hugged Katie first. Katie smiled.

He hugged Sam. "Where's mom. The boys wanna come over." Sam smiled, and looked at Niall, then Louis, then Zayn.

"Come on guys." They all got up and followed Sam and Katie. Sam ran up to her mom as did Harry.

"Mom can the boys come over. Their moms said it's up to you. Please mom!!" Their mom smiled.

"Of course Harry. Sam do you want Katie to come over. Her mom and I found out something really cool."

"What is it?!" Katie and Sam said at the same time.

"Sam we are actually neighbors to Katie and her mom."

He two girls looked at each other. "Yay!!!!" They screamed. The moms laughed. Katie's mom nodded giving her permission. They all smiled. Katie's mom looked at Sam's mom.

"Good luck with 7 kids."

"Thanks, now go play." Sam's mom laughed. Sam grabbed her towel and they ran to an open spot. He layed down and started taking pictures together. They took a picture while making kissy faces. They laughed and decided to keep that picture.

Harry ran up to them. "Come on we're leaving."

The girls jumped up and got into Katie's car. Since they were neighbors and Sam's car was full of kids. They didn't have enough room in Sam's car so Niall and Louis had to ride in Katie's car. They got home and started playing hide and seek. They ended the night playing flashlight tag.

Back to Katie's POV

"That was a really good day." Sam said.

I nodded. It really was.

"Sam?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For sticking with me all these years when nobody else in the group did." Sam made an awe sound.

"Of course. I couldn't live without my brunette."

"And I couldn't live without my blonde." They hugged each other. The smiled.

"Ready?"

"Ready!" They turned around and started to walk back towards the house.
