“Ray… Ray!”
“Hmm. Whatttt?”
“Our shift is done.” Said Luna stalking over to me looking extremely tired.
I nodded my head, following Luna back to the temple to wake Dawn. When we got to the temple I saw the familiar face of my siblings and my friend. I wonder what they’re talking about. Luna and I walk up to the crowd looking at everyone that was in the group. It was then that I asked, “What’s going on?”
Fire jumped back revealing a scared look on her face. “When the hell did you get there?”
“Just now. What’s going on there?” i said pointing to the rest of the group that seemed to have gotten larger.
Fire looked at the crowd, then looked back at me with a devilish smile. “Looks like you’re not the only one with a crush,” Fire explained, the smile still one her face, “Crystal just confessed to liking someone. What’s going on in that group is a gossip circle. Crystal’s brothers and our siblings trying to get her to spill, because you had already left. They plan on coming after you when you come back.”
When Fire finished there was something in my stomach that was bothering me. Was it I that Crystal liked or was it someone else. Whatever is the outcome I will be happy for her. Even if it hurts me. “Dawn!,” I screamed from across the hall. Dawn turned around with a questioning look on her face, with that I respond, “It’s yours and Day’s shift.” When I was done talking everyone in the crown slowly turned and looked at me. Dawn seemed to know what was about to happen, as she grabbed Day and made for the door. Day tried yanking his arm away from Dawn, but Dawn’s grip was too strong. He gave up and said goodbye to Night, his boyfriend, as they exited the temple. It was then that there was a rush of footsteps, some, like water, left the temple for their shifts. Others swarmed me.
“So, we heard you also had a crush, mind telling us who it is?” Said Earth trying to trick me into telling.
“Actually I do mind, I just got done with my shift and I’m tired. Even if I wasn’t tired I still wouldn’t tell you. So, if you’ll excuse me, which I suggest you do, I am going to my room to rest and get ready for my next shift.” That was all I had to say. Fire made a motion for everyone to leave, she knew what would happen if they didn’t let me leave. The last time someone stopped me they had a broken nose that had a hard time healing.
I start to make my way to my room, but when I make the turn I don’t go to my room, but Crystal’s. Where is her bed again? Oh right, she has a pull out bed. I walk over to a wall and pull her bed out putting a note and a moon crystal on it, then closing it making sure it didn’t fall. Then I hear footsteps. Shit! I took too long. When the door started to open I winnowed away leaving no trace that I was there except for the moon crystal and a note signed in my name.
