When Dawn and I were done eating, we put the rest of the food in the fridge for everyone else, and started heading to the hangout. When we got there everyone was huddled in a circle around Luna, then, “Sorry Luna, there’s no proof of those things ever happening. None of us have any reason to believe you.” It was when Water said that my senses started yelling at me to run, so I did.
“You little son of a-” Luna said before running after me. The only thing I could think to do was to lose her in the halls that were unknown to her. When we came to the fork in the road I went down the middle left path jumping over the gate that we put there to, obviously, to keep something from getting out. Behind me I heard Luna jump over the fence and come to a stop, because of the dark. “Where the hell are the lights?!”
When I saw her starting to reach for the lights I panicked and yelled, “Wait don’t turn on the-” Shit. The lights came clinging on and the echo of my voice clanged through the passage. It was faint but you could hear stampeding down the way. It was in this passage that me and my siblings kept our animals. Yes, we have animals… Supernatural animals. I hadn’t used magic, besides winnowing, in a while, because I had gotten into a brawl that resulted in a deepish wound on my side and three broken ribs. If I don’t stop the damn things Luna might not come out of here. Gods damned her anger issues. So, I snapped which caused Luna to tell me off saying I shouldn’t be using magic, but I never did listen to those comments. There was a white glow in my hands when I held them up. By now everyone was at the gate, Dawn was yelling at Luna to get the hell out, and then shadows overtook me, and joined with my shadows were the shadows of the creatures that have been with us since we were born. The glow faded and I looked up. “Can you all please stop making me feel short when I know for a damn fact that I am in my elf demon form.”
“What the hell does being in your full form have to do with this?” Said Dawn in a mocking voice.
“When I shift into my full form I grow to my actual height, which is six foot, so fuck off.” Like that all the animals shrank to normal, for us, size, and I walked over to my snake Seth. There were several flashes of light behind me, indicating that everyone related to me, and a couple more were shifting into their full forms, or the forms we were born in. I heard footsteps, then was joined by my sisters and brother going to their animals. Each of them had a couple, but I only had Seth and I was fine with that. Then someone came up beside me reaching their hand out to Seth for her to either approve or deny. The person beside me was Crys.
“She’s beautiful. What is her name, may I ask?” Crys spoke in a soft voice. She had most likely been woken up.
“Seth.” I said simply not really knowing what else to say. It was then that Air walked in with some news. He told us the council, the people who monitor us, was giving us a few days off. So we wouldn’t have any shifts for a couple of days. We all yelled, most of us relieved. When everything calmed down we all said goodbye to the animals, leaving Fire and Day to feed them, it was their turn.
When we got back to the hangout Crys had seemed to figure something out and voiced, “Seth, as in the god of death, deserts, and storms?”
I looked at her, hell we all did. Then I decided it would be a good time to tell everyone something about myself that I didn’t consider a big deal. “No, my name as the god of death, deserts, violence and storms. Just like Air was named to be the god Ptah, god of creation.”
