It was a silent ride to the school with the occasional mom singing very loud and the girls annoyed but laughing.
They had finally arrived at the school which felt like it took 2 hrs but only 7 minutes.
"Bye girls have good day at the dance!" Said Olivia's mom.
"Bye mom!" Replied Olivia
They didn't look at each other as they were walking inside because they didn't want other people to notice they went together.
When they reached the gym they paused for a moment, hesitant on going inside.
"Let's just go inside and get this over with!" Said Lucy.
Olivia sighed the calmed down.
"Okay!" Olivia replied confidently.
They walked inside shocked at how many people are there already most having dates and some just going with friends.
Olivia spotted Mia and her date and smiled because they looked really happy.
Lucy spotted her friends group at there date all talking together.
They glanced at each other and both of their eyes said they should stay away from there friends for know.
They walked in the middle where there friends weren't.
About half of 8th grade was there and in about an 1hr later all of 8th grade was there.
It was a little packed since there gym was a little smaller that other gyms but Lucy and Olivia stayed away from the crowd in silence. They didn't really feel like talking.
After a while one of them finally talked.
"I'm getting kind of hungry and thirsty are you?" Said Lucy.
"Huh? Oh uhm yeah i'm a little hungry but mostly thirsty." Replied Olivia.
"I can go get us a sandwich and some drinks if you want..." said Lucy.
"Uhm yes please, thank you." Replied Olivia.
Lucy went of to where all the snacks and drinks are when she herd her name being called.
"Lucy!! Lucy!! Over here!!"
Lucy looked to see who was calling here and it was one of her friends Julia.
Lucy didn't want to be rude so she lugged herself over to them.
"Hey guys!" Said Lucy.
"Hey!! So...who are you getting drinks for~" Said Julia.
Her friends started crowding around her wondering who it was.
Lucy came up with an excuse but it wasn't a very good one.
"There...for....uhm...me! Yeah for me." Said Lucy
Her friends didn't believe it.
"Come on Lucy tell us!! Who's the lucky man~" Said Julia.
But the thing was, was that it wasn't a man.
"It for no one okay! Leave me alone." Said Lucy.
Her friends looked at her in disgust as Lucy walked away to go back to Olivia.
Her friends where smarter that she thought and started to follow her to see you the lucky man was and Lucy was unaware.
When Lucy was back to Olivia she herd a large gasp from behind her and slowly looked hopping it wasn't who she thought it was.
"Your seriously here with that freak!!" Said Julia.
They all started laughter except Olivia and Lucy who where embarrassed.
"She's not a freak! Maybe you should actually try to know her..." said Lucy a little flustered.
Olivia also became a little flustered.
"That gross do you like her or something? That so weird! Who will you like next us!! Eww!" Said Julia.
Lucy put her head down looking as though about to cry.
Olivia had to do something anything...
Without thinking she grabbed Lucy's head and kissed her....right in the lips.
"So what if she likes me! I...like her too." Said Olivia.
The girls were in shock and disgust while Lucy stood there, frozen and very flustered.
"You can't be in our friend group anymore Lucy! Lesbian freak..." Said Julia.
And they all walked away.
"It going to be okay your don't need those losers!" Said Olivia trying to made Lucy feel better.
"You sure?" Replied Lucy.
"I'm sure because now you have me!" Said Olivia
"Thanks... and uhm....when you kissed me uhm.."
"Right!!! I'm so sorry I didn't tell you first!!"
"It okay..it felt comforting"
They both smiled and looked at each other.
Then they heard running foot steps coming towards them then Mia is pouncing on Olivia.
"I saw the whole thing and don't worry I fully support you as long as it makes you happy!!!" Said Mia.
"Thank Mia." Giggle Olivia.
The Mia sprinted away again.
Lucy and Olivia looked at each other and laughed.
"So now that that's over do you wanna maybe I don't know dance since thing is a school dance?" Said Olivia
"Of course." Replied Lucy.
They walked to the middle of the gym and as they did so a slow song came up and they started dancing never taking eyes off each other.
"So does this mean where?" Said Lucy
"Yes this means where dating."
Happiness filled both of them as they dance and enjoyed the party having fun all night then going home at around 10 AM.
They walked home with Olivia's head on Lucy's shoulder. Even thought she was older she was still shorter.
And they walked holding hands and talking a little about what had happened, smiling and laughing the whole way.
