"Michael, time to go!" Ashton shouted into the bathroom. It was eight in the morning on a Monday and Michael had to do the one thing he hated most, go to school.

"One second gotta finish up in here!" Michael shouted back, wincing as he applied concealer to the bruise on his face. It was an art he perfected after many years of living with his awful parents.

"You got five minutes, meet me in the car," Ashton said as he walked out the door and into his beat up car. Michael sighed as he looked in the mirror, although he was much better at applying concealer than any guy should be, it could only do so much, he could still see a slight discoloration and swelling on his cheek. Hopefully nobody will notice it. Michael ran his hands through his messy red hair and quickly ran out of the small apartment, grabbing his backpack on the way out. Go he hated school so much, its just a prison with awful people everywhere all the time. He quickly descended down the stairs and only slowed down when he was next to the passenger side of the car door. He could hear that the music was on and could see Ashton air drumming to some random Green Day song. He rolled his eyes before opening the door and jumping into the seat next to Ashton, who jumped, not expecting Michael to be so fast.

"You scared the sh*t out of me!" Ashton laughed before turned down the music and buckling his seat belt, Michael did the same as Ashton pulled out of his parking spot.

"Do we really need to go to school?" Michael asked, already knowing the answer.

"Yes Michael, you need to go to school so you can get an education and be successful in life," Ashton said matter-of-factly. Michael groaned, he really didn't want to do anything special in life, he just wanted to play music and be happy, but Ashton insisted he at least finishes high school so if he changed his mind he could get a degree at a college that he would never be able to afford. The two sat in a comfortable silence the rest of the way to their school. They never really talked much in the morning rides to school, probably because both Michael and Ashton hated mornings, even after three cups of coffee and a quick shower. The two boys finally arrived at their own personal hell, aka Thornwood High, home of the Woodpeckers... why woodpeckers you ask? Well to be honest nobody really knew, not even the principal of the school, its just always been that way.

"So what am I supposed to do after school today?" Michael asked. Ashton laughed.

"You ask the same question every day, you know I have no plans after school, just meet up here at the car," Ashton said while getting out of his car. Michael nodded, looking in the side view mirror one last time to make sure his bruise was as concealed as possible before getting out of the car as well.

"Just gotta make sure," Michael said, as always. There were a few things that never changed between the two boys, one of those things was this same conversation that they had every morning. Ashton shook his head at Michael like he always did. The two boys really were like a married couple, minus all the kissing and cuddling... okay maybe there was some cuddling.

"Alrighty then, I'll see you at lunch?" Ashton asked.

"Same time, same place," Michael replied before he began walking towards the doors of the high school. It's not that Michael hated schoolwork all that much, it was the people that made him hate high school. Students who were judgmental and cruel, teachers who don't give two sh*ts about you, and two faced, fake friends. The only thing Michael liked about high school was the fact that he got to see his only real friend, Ashton. As soon as Michael walked into the building he regretted it, he didn't know why, but he did. He shrugged off the weird feeling and walked to his locker so he could grab his books for his first classes. He grabbed a few of his messy looking notebooks and closed his locker, his mornings weren't really all that eventful. Michael heard the bell ring and everybody began filing into their first classes of the day. Michael sighed as he walked down the hallway and into his first class, math. He sucked at math, it's not like he cared that much though. He took his usual seat in the back of the room and pulled out his homework assignment so the teacher could check it. Mr. Soloman was his math teacher, everybody loved him, even Michael at one point. But Michael realized that his math teacher was sorta a d*ick-head about two months ago. You see Mr. Soloman was best friends with Michael's father and he came over to his house all the time to drink and talk about life among other things... long story short Mr. Soloman was a cheating a**hole who didn't know how to keep his mouth shut.
Mr. Soloman slowly made his way to the back of the room, checking papers along the way, until he got to Michael. The teacher picked up the papers in front of Michael and skimmed through them to make sure he actually did all the work.

"Wow the f*g can actually learn!" Mr. Soloman exclaimed.

What.

"Excuse me?" Michael said half in panic, half in anger. His father must've said something.

"You heard me," Mr. Soloman said before walking away and back to his usual spot behind his desk. Everybody in the room was looking back at him now. Michael started breathing quickly, he could feel his anxiety rising from all the eyes on him. He needed to get out, now. And so he did. Michael stood up, grabbed his basically empty backpack, and left the room. But he didn't stop there, he started to run, down the halls and out to the back side of the building. Nobody ever really went back there cause there wasn't anything to do, not even stairs to sit on. Michael wanted to cry, everybody would know before lunch today, he was just forced out of the safety of his own personal closet. Michael's panic didn't stop, if anything it just built up more with the thought of his whole school knowing he was gay. He started to breath even quicker and felt tears rushing down his face, he managed to make his way over to a wall before he collapsed against it, struggling to breath. Michael wasn't sure how long this went on before he heard a voice.

"Hey, you alright?" A boy said, sounding a bit concerned. Michael didn't answer for a little bit, waiting for his breathing to even out.

"No, not really, but why would you care?" Michael said hoarsely, not really caring that he's talking to a complete stranger.

"Well you're kinda in my spot and a pretty boy like you should never be sad," the stranger said with a smirk. Michael snapped his head up in shock.

"You shouldn't say things like that around here," Michael said.

"Why not?" The blonde boy said before spilling down the wall so he was sitting next to Michael.

"Because people in this town are a**holes," Michael said.

"Awe really? That's a shame, I wanted to tell you that you're the finest piece of a** I've seen in this town so far, but I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut," The stranger said. Michael's jaw hit the floor. This boy cannot be serious.

"Well looks can be deceiving, you don't wanna be anywhere near me," Michael said, trying to deter the boy from making a huge mistake.

"Any why wouldn't I?" The stranger said, leaning in close to Michael's face.

"Cause, I don't want to take such a pretty face down with me," Michael said, his voice wavering slightly because damn he just realized how hot this boy was.

"Down where?" The stranger whispered in Michael's ear.

"Down to hell," Michael replied sadly. The stranger chuckled.

"Babe don't you worry about that, I'm already there," the stranger said before standing up and walking away. "By the way, my name's Luke, come back same time tomorrow if you wanna finish this conversation," Luke said before walking into the school, leaving a emotionally wrecked Michael outside to think about what the h*ll just happened.
