I was escorted out to the big gazebo that was next to the maze. It was on a hill with a little pond next to it. The pillars were like Greek pillars, going up to a dome like roof. The roof was made of glass, allowing the sun to come through and shine on our faces in the middle of the ceremony. There was a long white rug that went up to the altar. I stood there for a bit, staring at where I was to be wed. My father walked over to me, allowing me to grab his arm. I look up at him, his head looking straight ahead. "Father... I really don't want to do this.." I said quietly, so only he could hear. "You'll be fine y/n. The prince is a lovely young man, he turned 19 only a couple of weeks ago, so you'll live." He said bluntly. I almost wince at hearing about the prince, knowing full well I would not be ok with it.
I stared up ahead, not bothering to try to talk to the almost statue like father anymore. As soon as I saw the flower girl walk and the start of the piano, I began to slowly walk, my father putting on a fake smile whilst I held sort of a frown. As we slowly walked I looked over at the princes side with all his family. They all looked like snobs, looking me up and down in judgment as I walked past. My dad led me up the stairs, leaving me to stand alone in front of the young boy. He had short curly hair with a black and white suit. He had a small scar on his upper lip and his features were quite sharp.
He looked at me in awe, his light blue eyes seemed to be stuck on looking at me. I awkwardly fiddled with my hands, not liking the unwanted attention from him. The pastor started talking, but I blocked him out as I awaited impatiently for Lacey to appear. We both said our vows, letting the pastor talk some more. I fiddle with the ring on my left hand a bit more, worried she might not show up. My thoughts were quickly cut short as I heard the pastor say "Does anybody object this marriage?" The event was silent, no one speaking up. Panic started to fill my mind, thinking maybe Lacey gave up on me and I was stuck with the prince.
Just before the pastor continued, there was a yell out from the very back of the venue. Everyone looked behind to see a girl dressed in a commoner dress. My eyes light up in delight as I see Lacey standing there with a determined smile on her fair face. "I object!" She yelled out. "What is this!" My father yelled out, looking directly at me. I looked at him, flashing an innocent smile. I quickly shove the bouquet into the princes face, picking up my dress and running towards the blue eyed girl. She smiled widely at me, taking my hand. "Y/n, you get back right this instance, I will not let this stupid commoner girl ruin my plans!" He yelled out. "Father she's not some 'commoner' girl! She's the girl I want to marry!" I yelled back in defence. "Y/n you have lost it, I forbid you to ever marry her!" My father said, turning a shade of red out of anger. "I don't need your permission to do it. I'll do whatever I want." I said with a smile, picking up my dress and pulling Lacey towards the gates.
"Guards, get them right now!" He yelled, the rest of the guests panicking. The prince stood there awkwardly with the flowers in hand. "Steven, come down here right now!" His mother yelled. He looked up at her with a small smile. "Why should I?" He said, dropping the flowers and walking off. The mother stared in disbelief as she watched him calmly walk away.
The gate was guarded heavily with guards. I quickly pull Lacey towards the castle, pulling her inside and make my way up the long stairs. Hand in hand, we make our way to the roof of the castle. My father was following close behind. We get to the top, running quickly towards the edge. We looked over to see a big body of water. The waves come up and collapse harshly against the ridged rocks. We both turn back to see my father standing there, breathing out heavily. "Y/n, this can be easily fixed if you just come with me. Leave her, what's she going to do to help you throughout your life?" He asked. I looked at him with a smile. "Make me happy." I said. My father looked at me in surprise. "Truth is father, I never wanted expensive stuff. Sure, having a king sized bed and servants is great... but being with her is something not even the greatest poet could put into words." I said, tightening my grip on Lacey's hand.
My father stood there for a couple of minutes, looking down at the ground. "Well. If you won't listen to me..." My father said quietly. He looked up with an angered look. "Guess I'll have to force you." He said, quickly sprinting at me. My legs became paralysed with fear, knowing that if I didn't move he might hit me off the edge or grab me and drag me away. I was quickly pulled out of my fathers grasp, and into Lacey's arms. My father not having enough time to stop, quickly went tumbling over the edge of the tall castle. I quickly shut my eyes tightly, pressing into the other girl more. There was a splash, and then silence.
Tears threatened to come out of my eyes. "Y/n, we need to get out of here quickly." Lacey whispered into my ear. I nodded, getting up and holding tightly onto her hand.
