I swiftly pull down my hood, exposing my true identity. Lacey looked up at me whilst still taking a sip of her tea. She quickly spits her drink back into her cup out of shock, coughing up all the excess liquid that went down her throat. She looked up at me in surprise. "You're... you're the princess. You're y/n!" She exclaimed. I smiled sadly at her. "Yeah." I said, looking down. She quickly coughed, straightening her posture. "I can't believe it. I always thought your ego would be huge, like you would look down on me." She said, with a small giggle. I look up at her with a hurtful expression. "But it turns out... you were exactly what I was looking for..." She said, her face going serious. "I never would of thought to have these kinds of feelings for someone... I don't know how they formed in the few days we talked... but I found myself constantly thinking of the girl in the hood." She said, staring at me dead in my e/c eyes.
I start blushing a light pink. "But now, I see who you really are..." She said slowly. I look down, quickly closing my eyes expecting to hear an apology or a 'get out of my house'. But instead I heard. "And I see, how beautiful you really are..." She said lightly. Those few words seemed to make my heart dance, my stomach filled with butterflies. I quickly look up, blushing a deep red. "Y/n... I know you are the princess, and could probably never return these feelings. Especially since I am just a village girl. But at least... at least you now know my true feelings for you." She said. I look at her in awe, not knowing how to respond. I take a deep breath in and out, looking at her with a wide smile. "Lacey... you have no clue how much I've wanted you to say that." I say.
She looked at me in shock, the shock slowly turning to a wide smile, tears on the edge of falling down her red cheeks. She quickly jumped up, running over to where I was. She fell into my arms, giving me a long warm embrace. I freeze up at the sudden touch, but slowly reaching my arms over her waist, returning the embrace. We lay there for a couple of minutes, not speaking just enjoying the company of each others arms around each other. I open my eyes to see that I had 30 minutes left. I sigh out, letting Lacey know that we didn't have much longer to be together.
Lacey pouted a bit, her face then lighting up as she pulls me out to her yard. I quickly pull my hood up to hide my identity from everyone else. She took me through her flower garden, telling me about each and every flower and how helpful they were. I smiled at her getting excited over every flower, watching her when she found a little worm. All her actions seemed to keep me captivated; I smiled sadly when I had to go, holding her hands lightly as she sadly looked at me. "Why must you go so soon..." Lacey asked, hugging me tightly. "I probably will not be able to see you for a while, my father found me going into the woods the other day, it was a dangerous task getting out here." I said sadly. Her eyes showed visible pain. Her eyes opened widely as she quickly ran inside, coming back out with something in her hand. She opened my hand, placing a ring in the palm of my hand. It had a moon on it, with other antique details on it. I looked up at her smiling face in confusion. "It's a ring my mother gave me before she left." She said. I looked back at it. "I don't want to take it from you then." I said, extending my hand to give it back. "No, it's ok. It came from a set. I have the sun one." She explained, showing me the other ring. "She said to give it to someone special, and you're that special to me that I had to give it to you." She said with a wide smile. I smiled at her, tears were near to falling. I pulled her into a tight hug, her height being at least a head shorter than me. I kissed her cheek, slipping the ring onto my right ring finger. She smiled at me, showing she put her ring on her hand as well.
I wave goodbye to her, as I make my way up town and towards my home. As I make my way up the hill and nearing the gates to the kingdom, I hear my father yelling. "You let her go by herself?!" He yelled out. "Sorry sir! We didn't even think about taking her down!" They exclaimed. "What kind of guards are you?!" He yelled, I could see his angry face already. I quickly gulped down my fears, appearing at the gates with a pale face. My dad caught sight of me, and instantly stopped speaking. He stared daggers at me as one of the guards quickly opened the gates. "H-hello father." I said nervously with a little wave. "Young lady you get inside right now." He said, staring at me still. I let my head fall down as I walk quickly into the building.
I try my best to ignore my fathers stares, but he keeps his eyes on the back of my head. Once we enter the palace and into the throne room, I stand silently in front of the throne, my dad walks up it and sits next to my mother. I look up at my mother whose expressionless. Her golden locks lied on her shoulders lightly, her crown sitting upon her head with lots of jewels. She had quite a young face, no wrinkles to be seen. She wore a simple velvet purple dress that had long extended sleeves. I looked over to my father who seemed to be enraged. He had grey hairs underneath his big golden crown. He wore a simple suit with a pendant hanging from his neck.
I stared at them in guilt. "So you... went out unsupervised..." My father said to me. I looked down in guilt. "I'm very sorry father." I said as calmly as I could. He continued to stare at me. You missed an important meeting that I couldn't warn you about, leaving me to tell you all the details we sorted out now." He said through gritted teeth. I looked up at him, curious to what was spoken about. "Tomorrow, will not only be your birthday, but your wedding day."
