Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a kind, bubbly, sweet, smart, talented, and helpful girl. The one thing she is not, however, is a bully. When Lila arrived at school, she threatened Marinette by saying she would take her friends away. Marinette chose to ignore the threat, believing that her friends were loyal to her. But Lila, with her fake sob stories, some cleverly applied makeup, and a photoshopped picture, managed to convince the entire class—except for a few—to turn against Marinette. Soon, they began to bully her. Even Alya, who had been her close friend, eventually left her, leaving Marinette in a complete mess.
During this difficult time, Chloe surprisingly came forward to apologize, and Marinette, showing her forgiving nature, accepted her apology. This all takes place when Marinette is 16.
To understand her better, it’s important to know that Marinette's life took a significant turn when she was 13 and became the superheroine Ladybug after receiving a miraculous. By the time she was 15, she had assumed the role of Guardian, adding more responsibility to her young shoulders. Now, at almost 18, she is not only Ladybug but also MDC, a rising fashion designer; Nettie, an international pop sensation; Bluebell, a famous ice skater and ballerina; and many more.
Marinette lives with her loving parents, who have always supported her through her ups and downs.
