LEGACY

**"PEPPERMINT!?" The class exclaimed.
I couldn't help but giggle.
"Well it was either that or Candy Cane," I explained, leaning in towards Shoto. "He preferred Peppermint."
With his same indifferent tone as always, he murmured, "It wasn't really my choice to make... we were five."
"Don't say it like that," I teased, "you make it sound like I was a bossy kindergartener, Shoto."
"Legacy-chan," Izuku started, as if to confirm what he just heard, "do you know Todoroki-kun already?"
"Yes," Tenya concurred, "the two of you seem to be... quite familiar with each other."
"Actually yeah," I replied, "Shoto and I have known each other since we were little; childhood friends I guess... but it's been a while."
More than a while actually...
Everyone suddenly exchanged uncomfortable glances before shifting towards Izuku and Mr. Stubborn upfront.
Hmmmm, I wonder what that's about... but—
God damn it! I can't take this shit.
"Where's Denki?" I held my hand up to my forehead.
Everyone whipped their heads around to face me.
"Huh—
"What—
"Guys we really are famous in the Americas," a voice called out. (My money's on the grape bunch)
Hmm, I winced, A name can't get lost in translation, so maybe it's just my pronunciation.
"Den/ki Ka/mi/na/ri," I enunciated. "Electricon. About my height. Golden hair, honey-colored eyes. A classmate of yours, I presume?"
Surely I couldn't have imagined the red "1-A" on the door... right?
"Uhhh," a girl with pink skin and horns came over. Easy: Mina Ashido. "We know Kaminari, but what's a..."
"E.. lec.. tri.. con...?" Izuku sounded out.
Shoot, I was using the AQS again.
"Nevermind," I shook my head. No need to confuse them further. "Why isn't he here?"
"Well..." A redhead scratched his head. Eijirou Kirishima. "You could say that he's... kind of on... house arrest."
Awww man, I frowned, I was expecting a cute ditzy blonde, not a delinquent.
A brunette with round eyes and chin-level hair eagerly jumped in front of me. "How did you know he wasn't at school?" she bounced. Ochako Uraraka.
Well aside from basic counting, "I just looked around and noticed he wasn't here," I smiled. "Principal Nezu said he was supposed to be my guide around the school, but no one here matches the description he gave me."
I glance at the yellow sleeping bag that's tightly zipped up and motionless on the floor. If Aizawa's awake and knows I'm lying, he doesn't show it.
Good.
I let my eyes close for an extra second. A slow blink is probably what it would've looked like to anyone else. 400 yards, huh? Not too bad.
Shoto lets a small smile slip through, aware of what I'm doing.
What? The discreet smirk I shoot him seems to say, At least I know where "home" is now.
He amusedly studies me one last time before returning his gaze to the chalkboard and resetting his expression to a neutral. I do the same and walk back to Denki's desk.
Not that I expected him to, but Shoto hasn't given me away yet.
I pull my gloves further up my wrists.
Looks like I've been given free rein.
