"Jess! Do you want pizza?" Natalie yelled from across the room. We were literally 2 feet away from each other but she still chose to yell.
"Yes!" I yelled back. She gave me a crooked look because she knew I was mocking her. "Pepperoni!" She rolled her eyes and walked over to the wall phone to order pizza.
My eyes scanned around the kitchen. All the pictures of her and her mom filled the pasty white walls. I'm occasionally up there, but there's more pictures of just her and her mom. Natalie graduating from grade school, Natalie's birthdays, her Halloween parties, her mom had a picture of her for almost every event. No one really knows why she takes so many pictures, but she's really really good at it. She's like a photographer, but not a photographer. Natalie's mom works at the book store not to far from our school so Natalie and I often stop by there on our way back from school to have some coffee and read a little. And sure enough, while we eat and read, her mom manages to take another picture of us. We don't know how she does it. She's so sneaky about it.
"Jessica you always looks at my pictures when your here. What's going on in that little mind of yours?" Marie snapped me out of my thoughts and ruffled my hair.
"Oh nothing. Just lost in thought. Nothing important."
"Mhm. Who do you have a crush on?" My face went red. I don't like anyway, at least I don't think I do.
"I-I don't like anyone!" I said in defense.
"Jesus, calm down. Hun it was a joke." Marie let out a small laugh and Natalie returned from the wall phone.
"What we talkin' bout'?"
"Boys." I said simpl.
"Oh do you like someone? Spill it sister!" Natalie leaned her elbows on the island and put her chin in the palm of her hands.
"No I don't like anyone. The guys in my class are annoying." I ran my hand through my hair, pulling it out of my face.
"Good. I hate the guys in your classes too." Natalie let out a small laugh and moved to sit next to me.
"So girls. What movie do we want to watch tonight? Scary, comedy, romance?" Marie wiggled her eyebrows when she said romance and Natalie groaned.
"Ew mom. Romance? I thought you got rid of all the romance movies."
"Nah I kept them. Just to piss you off." Marie kissed Natalie's head, causing Natalie to groan and push her away. Marie laughed and exited the room, leaving us alone like usual.
"You should love your mom more." I said, standing up and walking to her fridge.
"She's so embarrassing though. Always taking pictures and stuff. Like, who does that?" Natalie sighed and stood up to walk over to me. We stared blankly at the fridge, not knowing what to have as a small snack. "Pizza takes to long to come. Why did you want pizza?" Natalie shoved me playfully but being the idiot clutz I am, I tumbled to the floor and landed with a big 'thud'. "Shit Jessica I'm sorry!" I wasn't hurt so I just did why I normally do, laugh hysterically and roll on the floor. Natalie stares at me, unsure whether to laugh or get help.
"Natalie I'm fine!" I managed to say through laughs. A small kick was felt at my side, causing me to quickly grab it and rub it. "What the hell? Very unnecessary roughness." Natalie held out her hand which I respectfully took and she pulled me to my feet.
"Sorry. I never know if you're hurt or joking." She smiled and shut the fridge. Suddenly the door bell rang and Natalie groaned, again.
"I'll get it. It's probably the pizza." I made my way to the front door and unlocked it before opening it. Instantly, I recognized the face behind the Pizza Hut uniform. My ex boyfriend Michael. I tried to hold in my laughter because I never knew he worked at Pizza Hut. "Oh hey Michael." I said, stifling a laugh.
