I walked into the bookstore, my heavy backpack pulling me down as I through it onto table.
"Someone in bad mood?" I looked up and Marie was looking at me with a smirk as she cleaned the counter she sat behind.
"No. Well." I took a deep breath. "Michael and I are in a small fight. No huge deal. He was just upset over something between him and Calum and took it out on me." I gave Marie a small smile and stepped up to the counter. Marie leaned her elbows on the counter and narrowed her eyes.
"You sure?"
"Positive. I have nothing else to be mad about. Speaking of which, where's Nat?"
"She's getting tutored. Struggling in Math." Marie sighed and shook her head.
"How's bookstore business so far?" I smiled and glanced at the somewhat busy store. There was more people than usual. There's usually only five or six people but there's around ten to twelve.
"Growing slowly. Not that that's important. I like the fact that it's small. Quiet is peaceful." Marie smiled and looked behind me as the bell above the door went off. "Hello!" Marie smiled and stepped out from behind the counter.
"Hi Marie! Sorry I'm late." I turned to see a girl about my age with greenish blue-ish dyed hair and a nose piercing. I didn't even know Marie had people working here.
"Honey it's fine." Marie smiled then looked from her to me. "Oh! Jess this is Griffin, Griffin this is Jess." We both smiled at each other and shook hands.
"How long have you been working here?" I asked as I leaned against the counter.
"Only a few days. I just moved here too and I needed some money. So far for only two days after school." Griffin smiled softly and looked at the ground.
"She's great. Read a lot of books. Knows a lot about writing. She's like the daughter I never had." Marie laughed and wrapped her arm around Griffin's shoulder. Griffin blushed and ducked away from Marie's touch. She walked behind the counter and set her bag down before pulling off her jacket which revealed a black tank top that said 'I don't trust me either' with a skeleton hand crossing it's fingers. I smiled at her shirt and sat down at my table and pulled out all my school books so I could work on my homework.

About three hours later and I was still at the bookstore. Griffin and I had basically become best friends and I learned that she is really really quiet even though Marie says otherwise. Griffin likes a lot of rock bands like Pearl Jam, Paramore, Pierce the Veil, and My Chemical Romance. I also learned she moved her about two months ago and attends my school. I felt bad because I hadn't ever seen her before but I made a mental note to invite her to have lunch with my friends and me.
"You're friends seem nice." Griffin said quietly before taking a sip of water from a plastic bottle.
"They are when they want to be." I said with a small chuckle. I scribbled over some of my work on a piece of paper and scrunched my nose. I sighed in defeat and finally shoved everything back into my backpack and focused my attention back to Griffin. "What were your friends like?"
Griffin blushed and looked down at her hand which were sat in her lap.
"Oh well. I only had like two. And they were kind of like you. Tumblr-like. Different. Grunge." Griffin put on a small smile and fixed her hair.
The bell that hung above the door rang and I turned to see Michael. Wait not just Michael. Michael with this silvery blonde hair and I almost had a panic attack.
"Oh my god Michael! Your hair is gonna fall out!" I stood up from my chair and ran to give him a hug. He picked me up and spun me as I ran my hand through his dry, breaking hair.
"Jess it's been falling out forever. I've given up basically." Michael laughed then his eyes caught Griffin who was awkwardly sitting in silence. "Oh I'm sorry. I'm Michael." Michael smiled warmly and shook Griffin's hand and Griffin just smiled. I sat down next to her and looked at her but she didn't look at me.
"This is Griffin." Marie said as she came out of one of the isles. "She's been working here a few days." Marie smiled and patted Michael's back.
"Oh Griffin! You're in my art class!" Michael smiled and sat down next to her. I could tell he was trying really hard to be open, welcoming and friendly but it wasn't really working. "You're an amazing artist by the way." He smiled his adorable smile and Griffin just nodded before numbing something about going to the back room to get something.
"Nice job. You scared her off." I crossed my arms in frustration.
"I was trying to be nice! I don't know what I did honestly." Michael shook his head and his blondey silvery hair bobbled around. I let out a small laugh.
"At least wait longer before bleaching your hair. You just dyed it too." Griffin reappeared from the back room and sat down in her spot between me and Michael, a small smile apparent on her face.
"Michael your hair looks nice. I think it's better than before." Griffin's voice was quiet and barely audible but Michael smiled and said a small 'thank you' before smiling at me.
"Hey Griffin do you want to hang out at my place tonight?" I gathered up my backpack and shoved a few extra papers into the top.
"Sure." She said quietly as she stood. She grabbed her bag and jacket from behind the counter and Marie just nodded at her. Michael exited in front of us and said something about him and Calum before walking in the other direction.

Griffin quietly sat in my living room as she ate some Oreos and watched 'Twilight.' I studied her from my kitchen, not sure how to talk to someone so quiet. I was surprised I got the amount of information out of her that I did. I had also texted Natalie to come over but she had some other thing with Calum (insert mini fangirl moment here) so she couldn't make it.
"What's your favorite song?" Griffin asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Oh uh. Sirens by Pearl Jam. Your's?" I grabbed my napkin of Oreos and sat down next to her.
"Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore." She smiled sweetly and returned to eating her Oreos.
"Would you want to hang out with me and my friends during school? You can sleep the night too if you want." Griffin's eyes seemed to be set off by fireworks as I said that and she nodded eagerly. I let out a small chuckle at her enthusiasm and continued to eat my Oreos.
"C-could I borrow some clothes?" Griffin shyly asked.
"Yeah. We're basically the same size so it should work." I felt myself getting sleepier and sleepier and eventually we both fell asleep on my couch. Our Oreos still in our hands.
