Griffin fumbled with her long sleeves. Well, my long sleeves. Griffin had sheepishly asked me for clean clothes so I gave her a good shirt that I barely wear anymore. It was a gray long sleeved shirt and it looked really cute on her.
She sheepishly smiled at me as I handed her a plate of pancakes and bacon with a small cup of fruit. I may not like to cook, but my mom has always taught me it's the nice thing to do when you have guests. Granted that my mom is never home to cook for guests, but somehow she taught me that. My mom and dad didn't even notice I had a friend over this morning. They were too busy on their phones, talking to clients. I'm so glad I have Marie in my life because she's been more a mom to me than my real mom. Sometimes I think my parents don't know I exist. I shook my head and sighed, filling a plate with pancakes and bacon. Griffin looked up at my, her face confused at my sigh.
"You alright?" She quietly asked before taking a small bite of bacon.
"Yeah. Just thinking." I reassured her.
"Of what?" Her question took me by surprise. Usually when I tell people I'm just thinking, they just say "ok" and continue on with their life. No one bothers to ask what I'm really thinking about.
"N-nothing. Thoughts just scattered, y'know?" I gave her another reassuring smile and took a small bite from my pancake. Griffin furrowed her eyebrows then shrugged, continuing to eat her breakfast.
We sat in silence for maybe twenty minutes before my phone buzzed and I had a text from Natalie.
Calum, Michael and I were gonna go to Main Street today. Wanna join?
I looked up at Griffin who was still taking small bites from her breakfast. I cleared my throat and she looked up at me in confusion.
"Hm?" She hummed.
"Me and my friends were gonna go to Main Street today. Wanna come with?" Her eyes lit up and she smiled.
"Yeah! Is it okay with them?" She asked the question like she was wanting to hang out at a friends and was wondering if it was okay with her friends parents.
"It probably will be but I'll ask."
Can my friend Griffin come???
I hit send and patiently waited for a reply. Griffin sat with a smile on her face, her eating her breakfast a little faster than before.
Oh that's who Michael was talking about. Yeah she can come. Hurry up though. Want us to pick you up?
No, we can walk. Thanks Nat
"Alright! You can come!" Griffin jumped up from her seat and smiled. I grabbed both our plates and cleaned them off before putting them in the dishwasher. Griffin and I both jogged to my room and I quickly changed into a Jack Daniels tank top and slightly ripped up shorts. Griffin stuck with the gray sweat shirt and skinny jeans along with combat boots.
I grabbed my small bag and opened the front door for Griffin before following her out and locking the door.
We walked on the side walk next to the street, us both being quiet and just exchanging small glances and smiles. Griffin kept smiling to herself and I could tell she was excited to hang out with me and my friends today.
We slowly approached the shops in Main Street and Griffin's eyes jut lit up once again and she looked like a kid in a candy store. Natalie had said they were at the small cookie store at one of the corners on Main Street so we made our way into the small store. I scanned the small store and saw Michael, Natalie, and Calum (who were sitting rather close to each other) at the back corner with a small plate of cookies. Griffin quietly walked behind me, her sweater paws covering her cheeks and mouth. I ran up behind Michael's chair and covered his eyes and he immediately started to freak out.
