Levi's P.O.V:

I sat in my study, filling in paperwork that Hanji dumped on me last minute. "Damn you, shitty glasses..." I murmured as I mindlessly signed my name on her experimental documents.

A knock on the door made me look up from the hundreds of sheets of paperwork.

Raising an eyebrow, I stared expectantly at the door, then rolled my eyes and went back to work. Someone probably knocked it by accident. I thought to myself, irritated at the fact that due to the knock, I had smudged my signature on one of the more important files.

"Captain Levi?" I heard Petra say timidly, making me huff in acknowledgement. The door creaked open, making me look up. "Someone's here to see you..."

Just then, I glanced upwards to see a girl no older than fifteen, standing before me.

I gave Petra a look, and she exchanged glances with me. "W-Who?"

Petra sighed and hid behind the giant wooden door of my office, peeking her head inwards.

"Heichou... This girl... She um... She says that she's your daughter."

[the picture displayed is what Evangeline looks like]

"Evangeline..." I said, pursing my lips as she held a sketch book and pencil in her small, yet talented hands. She pouted, holding her pencil up then closing her right eye, tilting the pencil every so often to signify that she was studying the angles of my face.

"C'mon, Levi! I really wanna draw you!" My cheery girlfriend said as she leaned into my chest and began to trace circles on it with her index finger. "Pleeeaaassseeeee..." She coaxed as I looked at the sun setting in the distance. Sighing, I smiled at her immaculate face as I went down to kiss her forehead. She sprung up, pushing me over in the process. "No! No kisses until I get to draw you!"

I chuckled as my back hit the soft grass. I closed my eyes for a slight second, and when I opened them, I was faced to see my girlfriend's, who had her hands of her hips and was looking down on me. I smiled at her, trying to regain that beautiful smile. "C'mon, Evaaaa... Smile!"

Evangeline took the pencil from behind her ear and dangled the eraser in front of my face. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards me, our lips crashing together.

"L-Levi!" She stammered, smiling into the kiss. She pushed me off and scooted away, crossing her arms and sticking her tongue out at me. I propped myself up on my elbows and kissed the air. Evangeline rolled her eyes and tucked her pencil into the spiral rings of her sketchbook. Evangeline then slowly made her way towards me, and cuddled into my chest one again as I began to fall asleep.

*time skip*

I woke up to the sound of a pencil swiftly gliding against paper.

Oh. No. She. Didn't.

I jolted upwards, wiping a small trail of drool off of my chin. I looked to my right to see Evangeline holding up her sketchpad in triumph. "Finished! And you didn't even know, Levi!"

I groaned and laid back down, covering my face with my hands. I then felt the book hitting my stomach, making me remove my one hand in skepticism. Raising my eyebrow, I took the book gingerly from my stomach and gave her a suspicious look.

Evangeline crossed her arms, and smiled at me. "Just look at it, Levi... I bet you'll love it." She proclaimed, beaming at me.

I flipped the page, my eyes widening in... Awe. Her drawing was sublime. Every feature of my face was so... Apparent. It's like you could touch it. She got every feature, even my eyes. And I was sleeping.

I felt her head lean against my shoulder. "I took the liberty of excluding your little drool trail in that drawing." Evangeline joked, making me chuckle slightly.

"How did you do this? I wasn't even awake..." I murmured, looking into her bright blue eyes. Evangeline smiled. "I just wanted you to sit still. After all these years of being your girlfriend, don't you think that I've paid attention to your features?"

I smiled at her and kissed her cheek, making her blush. She then looked me into the eyes and tears brimmed in her brown orbs. I held her hand, trying to contemplate why her mood suddenly shifted this rapidly. "Evangeline... What's wrong?"

My girlfriend sniffled and wiped a tear that had escaped from her left eye. "It's just..."

I looked at her expectantly as her gaze met the almost fully set sun. She sighed, her fingers trembling as she tightened them into fists.

"I'm pregnant."

*present time*

I stared at the emotionless girl, her stone grey eyes meeting mine. Petra left the scene, quietly shutting the door behind her, leaving my "daughter" and I alone. She sighed and pulled out a piece of paper that had been delicately folded into a neat little square. Carefully unfolding it, she then held it up, looked at me, and the corner of her lip tugged upwards, forming a smirk.

Only one woman I've ever known smirked like that.

"Wow. Mom really captured your image." She admitted, turning the paper over so I could see it.

I widened my eyes in shock. "I... Who gave you that..."

C'mon, Levi! I really wanna draw you!

Pleeeaaassseeeee?

Just look at it, Levi... I bet you'll love it.

I gingerly took the paper from the girl's hands as she reluctantly handed it to me. Tracing my finger over my pencil-smudged jawline, tears threatened to spring in my eyes as the memories of my beautiful girlfriend began to infiltrate my subconscious.

I looked up at the girl and inspected her facial features. Subtly, I looked at the drawing of myself and then turned my attention to her. She gave me a look that questioned my actions, but kept her dismissive expression plastered on her face nonetheless.

She has her eyes. My hair colour. My nose. Her skin complexion...

The girl held out her hand, confusing me. "I don't think we have been formally introduced to one another. Although it is usually not accustomed for a father and daughter to partake in such an activity, we have never encountered one another. So, although this is an awkward situation, hello. I'm Adalyn Clarke. And I am your daughter."

Sometimes, things that are lost return to us without question. But, as time comes to pass, bad balances out with good, and the things that are lost are either lost again, or not ours at all.
