[Adalyn is pictured above]

Adalyn's P.O.V:

I stared at my dad expectantly, my arm beginning to feel a bit heavy as we stared at one another in complete silence. Noticing that my hand was still outstretched, I sighed and set it down.

"You might be wondering about my whereabouts these past years..." I said, looking down. My father just huffed. I could tell that he wasn't one for emotion. Not even that drawing that mom made moved him.

Someone is a little emotionless. I thought, pursing my lips. My dad's head jut upwards a bit, his eyes narrowing on me.

"Have you met Eren Jaeger?"

Chills ran through my body. Not this again... I thought as I rubbed my right arm with my left hand.

"Yes. Yes I have."

*flashback*

I looked at the giant door that blockaded my destination. This is it... I thought, knocking on the door without a single hesitation.

I bit my lip as each second passed. Growing more and more anxious, I began to bite the inside of my lip harder and harder until I could faintly taste blood.

Suddenly, I heard a massive creaking sound, startling me as I jumped backwards.

"Who the hell are yo-" An obnoxious voice sounded, making me gulp. "You're... You're just a kid." He said, scoffing afterwards. Angered by his rude demeanour, I stood forward and gave him a salute, just like I've seen multiple soldiers do.

"With all due respect, sir. I am not just a mere child. I'm-"

"On your way out, that's where you're headed." He said, not letting me finish as he scoffed once more. What a bastard. I thought, sighing as I pulled out the drawing.

"Do you know this man?" I asked, thrusting my arm forward, not letting my emotions show.

The man's snide side comments came to a halt as he paused for a brief, awkward, couple of seconds.

"Where... Where did you find that? Who gave this to you?" He asked, awfully perplexed. I smirked slightly.

"I didn't find it." I simply said, my voice still flat and monotony. The man coughed and rudely said, "Then who did you steal it from, you brat?"

Brat.

That word... That's the last name I remember him calling me.

You'll always be my little brat.

Scoffing at the man, I took a stab at a retort that would hopefully get me into this place.

"Stop trying to act like my father."

*time skip*

I sat at one of the long tables in the dining hall, my fingers clasped around the rim of my cup of tea.

"You even drink tea like him." A woman named Hanji said, observing me through her glasses with her beady brown eyes. Although I was creeped out to the bone by her overly-eccentric personality, I kept my emotions intact, showing none at all.

My eyes darted towards a woman no older than mom, who was looking at the drawing of dad. To be perfectly honest, she looked a little... Jealous. I cleared my throat, causing her to look up at me. "Do you mind if I have my drawing back, Miss..."

I trailed off as I recalled that I never got her name. She smiled and gave me the drawing, folding it for me nicely. "I'm Petra, Petra Ral." I nodded dismissively and turned to Hanji, who was still staring at me. I raised an eyebrow. "Um... Is it possible for me to see my dad? I mean, that's the whole reason as to why I'm here in the first place."

Hanji shook her head. "No offense, but we mustn't just let anyone walk into headquarters and see our captain. We barely get any privilege to see him. And, we can't just assume that you're his daughter just because of a drawing."

I suspected that something like this would happen. I nodded in agreement. "Okay, fine. I'll do whatever it takes. Take blood, ask me questions, anything. I don't care. I just want to see him."

Hanji smirked at me. "Fine. Petra, keep erm..." "Adalyn." I murmured, barely audible. "Right. Keep Adalyn here company. I'll give Levi some paperwork so that we can do some questioning."

When Hanji left the scene, Petra sat across from me. "So... Adalyn... Can I call you Addie?" She said enthusiastically, smiling at me. My expression was emotionless, stoic in fact.

Dad used to call me that...

I shook my head and expressionlessly responded. "No. I don't care for nicknames."

Petra's smile flattened into pursed lips. "You're exactly like him." She whispered, her fingers intertwining with one another as her elbows propped up on the table. Not changing my expression, I flatly asked, "How so?"

Petra sighed, smirking a little. "It's just that... Your 'father ' is um..."

"Emotionless."

I turned to see a boy standing behind me, leaning against a wooden beam with one leg propped up against it. He looked over at me, his turquoise-green eyes staring into mine.

Hot. Fucking. Damn.

I felt my cheeks get warm, my heart beat quicken, and I felt chills course throughout my body, almost like an adrenaline rush.

"Who... Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady and calm. The boy smirked at me. "I could ask you the same question."

"Touché." I said, running my fingers through my hair as I pulled it into a high ponytail. The boy made his way towards me, sitting down beside me as I stared at him without emotion.

"I'm Eren. Eren Jaeger." He said, holding his hand out towards me. Slowly, my hand made contact with his as we formally exchanged a handshake.

Why did it give me chills?

Sometimes, things that are lost return to us without question. But, as time comes to pass, bad balances out with good, and the things that are lost are either lost again, or not ours at all.
