Chapter 5
"Dad, - Declan entered Keenan's office after they left the hospital, - what was that?"
"He's strong," Thalia smiled from the sofa. She had also been discharged from the hospital after Rafail had left. She just needed a lot of rest.
"No, Thalia. I'm strong," Declan spoke. "He's not strong. He's on a whole other level. And stop daydreaming about him in front of me," Declan added quickly with a gag.
"Baby, leave her alone," Eve smiled at her mate as she entered the room. Declan's eyes immediately found hers and he pulled her towards him, kissing Eve's head.
"That's my baby sister," Declan whined.
"She's not such a baby anymore and you two have to get that through your thick skulls," Gwen scolded her son and husband.
"What did I do?" Keenan raised his hands in defeat.
"Nothing," Gwen smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Impossible," Keenan scoffed but eventually smiled and hugged his mate.
"So?" Declan raised a brow at him.
Thalia looked at her father too. Keenan sighed. "I didn't sense any other species on him. He's a werewolf."
"No way! We wouldn't have had to fight to stay on our feet just because sister dearest didn't reach him fast enough," Declan rolled his eyes.
"Hey, I tried," Thalia threw a piece of paper towards him. "It's your fault for trying to stop me."
"I was simply trying to save my eyes," Declan threw the paper back at her.
"Children," Gwen scolded them again.
"What do you think mom?" Thalia asked her.
"I think he's a lycan," Gwen replied.
"But lycans turn since they're 10. Why did it take him so long?" Eve asked with wondering brown eyes as she moved her blonde hair behind her shoulders.
"According to Thalia, he's hexed," Declan informed his mate. "But we've met lycans before. They're strong but not as strong as to make alphas fall on their knees just by growling. Unless he's an alpha himself. That'd explain it all."
"Yeah, that's true," Keenan rubbed his temples. "What if he has royal blood?" Keenan mumbled after some seconds.
"Dad, stop it! Royals were killed off years ago. You searched for any sign of them for years and didn't find any," Declan reminded him. He didn't want his father to get his hopes up just to have them crushed again. He had been just a kid when the royal family was wiped out. No one had escaped alive from that massacre.
"Yeah, you're right," Keenan sighed in sadness.
"He needs training," Declan spoke after a moment of silence.
"Yeah, I think he'll pick it up very easily. He's been training all his life so it won't be new to him," Gwen looked at her son.
"Yeah, training to kill us," Declan rolled his eyes.
"It'll come in handy. We have enemies that are werewolves," Eve told her mate.
"Rafail killed Jack," Declan said out of nowhere. Thalia snapped her head at him with widened eyes, her heart going wild on her chest.
"No," She whispered with terror. Killing a pack member was punishable by death.
Declan looked at her panicking and rushed to hug her before her mind took her down a dark path. "Don't worry, doodlebug. Nothing is going to happen to your mate."
