Michael could hear someone crying next to him. He opened his eyes, laying on the old, wooden twin bed. It was black in the room, he could see light outside the slightly opened white paint door. He pushed himself up, sitting up straight in the bed. The cribs next to him had his younger siblings. He looked at the clock on the dark oak wood nightstand.

12:00 AM Michael thought Great...8 more hours till we go back to Dad's. I wish time would go faster sometimes

"Hey Terry," Michael spoke softly.

No reply...

Maybe he went to the restroom. Michael thought nervously as he feared that his Mother would find him.

Michael climbed off the bed and headed to Eli's crib. He looked over the crib edge. She was sleeping peacefully. He walked quietly and quickly to C.C's crib and peered over. Michael picked up C.C.

"How do I do this," Michael mumbled.

C.C had stopped crying and had fallen asleep. Mike was shocked it happened so quickly for he had done nothing. Michael kissed C.C on the forehead and put him back in the crib. As he walked to his bed he wondered where Terrence was. He climbed onto the bed and put the thin blanket on. He put his head on the pillow trying to fall asleep.

Creak

Michael sat up. There was a figure of a boy in the door frame.

"Terry," Mike whispered, softly.

"Hey Mikey," Terrence said, "why aren't you asleep?"

"C.C was crying," Mike replied, getting up from his bed.

Michael asked, "Why were you outside this late, Terry?"

"I went to get water, anyway we should get to bed, Mike," Terrence said, closing the door.

Michael replied cheerfully, "Ok Terry! Goodnight!"

"Goodnight little brother," Terrence said quietly, walking over to his own bed and sitting down.

6:30 AM

Michael could hear yelling from outside the room. Terrence had gone outside before him because their mother had been calling him. Michael got dressed, checked on his siblings, and opened the door.

Thump

Michael could hear yelling in the kitchen as he ran down the stairs. As he walked closer to the kitchen he could see blood on the floor.

Mike mumbled softly under his breath, "Terrence...?"

Michael walked into the kitchen staring at his brother who was laying on the floor, bleeding. His mother holding a bat. Michael ran over to and leaned down.

"TERRY WAKE UP! PLEASE," Mike yelled, crying.

"Michael Afton, go back to your room now," Mrs. Afton yelled.

"WHAT DID YOU DO," Michael screamed.

"Michael Afton, I told you to go back to your room and wait for your father to get here," Olive said, starting to get angry.

Michael stood up, still staring at Terrence. His eyes filled with tears as he ran up to the bedroom. Mike fell to the ground, shaking. He could hear Elizabeth in her crib. As he walked over to her, he picked up C.C, who was sitting there awake, and put him on his bed. Then Michael picked up Elizabeth.

"Mwkey," said Elizabeth in a worried tone.

Mike placed her down next to C.C, hugging them both.

Time passed and Terrence didn't come back. Mike sat with his younger siblings waiting for the doorbell to ring.

-2 hours later-

Ring

The doorbell! Michael thought, jumping up to his feet.

"I'll be right back you two," Mike said as he ran out of the room, as Mike ran down the stairs, his mother looking at him with the face that she usually gave him. The face that she used when she didn't want him to tell his father what had happened. Michael was only 4 years old, so he didn't know that his brother was actually gone. Mike ran down and opened the door quickly.
