I danced around the lobby, humming along to the song playing through my earphones with a wide smile on my face. Being away from home is so freeing, I haven't felt this happy in a long time. Though, it is kind of sad being all alone in a huge house like this - I wonder when someone new will finally arrive?

There it was: the doorbell.

"Either this person is psychic or it's the postman," I mumbled to myself with a giggle. "Hopefully it's the first."

I then opened the door, blinking twice before I gazed up at the tall male before me. He must've been around five-eleven, if not taller. He had brown, shaggy hair with sapphire blue eyes and a limp smile that was impossible to forget. The male standing before me was my best friend, Ryan!

He then looked down at me, ruffling my hair gently as his smile expanded into a smirk. "Still short as ever aye, Ely?"

I pouted widely as I folded my arms. "Don't make me send you to a hotel, old man."

Ryan was the oldest of our group, but certainly not the most mature. That's why he was my best friend out of everyone - he was able to joke around and have fun, despite the age difference between him and the rest of us.

He snorted loudly, running a hand through his chocolate coloured hair. "Can I come in or am I camping on the driveway?"

I blinked repeatedly before stepping to one side so that he could come in. "Oh, yes! You may enter."

He then came into the lobby, almost hitting his head on the top of the doorframe which caused me to giggle.

"That's what you get for being a giant," I smirked.

"Oh, shut." He huffed loudly, trying his best not to laugh at my comment. "I'm guessing you already picked your room?"

I nodded, beaming proudly. "I'm confident in the fact that I picked the best one! Though don't worry, I didn't take the biggest one - I figured you and Frauke would want that one."

He returned the nod, puffing his cheeks. "Are we the only ones here so far?"

"Yep," I sighed. "I've been pretty lonely 'til now."

"Understandable, you're used to being with your family, right?" He raised a curious brow.

I rubbed the back of my neck. "Yeah, I used to live with my aunt and cousin, I kinda miss them."

"You're free to visit them at any time, you're not locked up here." He smiled sympathetically.

"I know, I just didn't want to leave until someone else got here." I pouted widely. "I don't want someone to steal my bedroom."

The conversation went on for a couple of hours before Ryan decided it was time for him to pick a room for him and Frauke; if you're wondering who Frauke is, she's Ryan's girlfriend and soon to be fiancee, no doubt.

~ Timeskip: 2 hours or so later ~

I was sat in the living room, flicking through the channels on the TV when Ryan came downstairs and into the room, his expression showing nothing but nerves, 'causing me to drift my gaze into his direction.

"You alright, Ryan?" I asked, my tone full of worry, which he soon caught onto.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Frauke said she's arriving tomorrow, I'm just nervous - it's been a while since I've seen her outside of the virtual world." He smiled weakly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I'm just—"

I instantly cut him off, eyebrows furrowing. "Don't you dare think like that," I hissed. "You two have been through absolute hell together if she was going to leave, she would have done it already."

He nodded, biting his lip. "Yeah, you're right. I'm just overthinking."

I then got up from my seat and opened my arms to him, puffing my cheeks.

"You're so small, it's hilarious." He grinned as he came over and wrapped his arms around me.

We were both tense at first, but we shortly became more comfortable in each other's grip.

Today was the first time I'd ever met Ryan in real life, it wasn't what I imagined, but I liked it nonetheless.
