The Secret Sewers

Chapter 1

        I was walking to school with my brother Mikey, right beside me. I watched the homeless people beg for money, people shoving eachother to get to work on time, and then there were the shops. So many beautiful, interesting, weird, shops. Mikey grabbed my arm firmly, "Come on, Addy." he pulled me to a curb.

        I watched the cars swerve around a man hole that was on matnence. I pulled out my phone to see that it was laready 7:47. That meant I had 20 minutes before I needed tog et to school.

        Mikey started walking, "Hurry up!"he called as I lost him in the wave of strangers.

        I was being shoved around and with every "Oof" I would be shoved again. When I finally realized that I was a foot away from the open man hole, I tried to move around it, but I was shoved again. I stumbled back, my heel went over the edge of the hole. I tried to find the ground, but I only found empty air. I looked down and saw pitch black cave with nothing there. The sounds of water became stronger, and before I knew it I was being carried by a fast moving underground "stream". I heard Mikey's yells from the top of the hole. A stream of light poured from it and I could barely make out his shadow.

        "Hold on, Addy!" he yelled, "Were going to get you out!"

        My clothes were soaked, I holding onto a metal bar that was sticking out of the cemeant. My hands were burning from the pain, my fingers were wet and numb. The thought of letting go was spinning around in my head as I fought against the current. I was weak, cold, numb, sore, adn jsut plain out tired. I knew that I couldn't hold on any longer. I have been hanging here for at least half an hour, but I couldn't stand anymore.

        "Addy, are you okay?" I heard Mom's sobs coming from the top.

        "I'm letting go!" I called to her, "I love you!" I relased my aching fingers, relief flowing across me. I drifted away watching the last of light disappear.
