The Secret Sewers

Chapter 2

        I'm not sure how long I was floating in the water, but it was long enough. Luckily, I had my phone in a water proof case, so I was able to tell what time it was. The clocked ticked from 7:59 to 8:34 to 9:25. That's what time it was, so I was floating for at least 2 hours. The water flow wasn't too fast, but it wasn't slow either. I was suprised when a hand lifted me from the water and set me on the side.

        5 pairs of beady eyes were looking at me. I screamed my lungs out looking at the giant rats. They were big and a gray-ish black with long pointy noses and big yellow teeth. One smiled at me, "Don't be scared, girl. We aren't here to hurt you, are we fellas?" he turned to face the rest of them. They all shook their heads solemly, "I'm Ted, this is Nettie." he pointed to the smallest of them. He looked shy and weak but he gave me a small wave. Ted went around and named the rest, "So, what's your name?" they were sitting in a circle around me.

        "I'm Addy," I said softly fingering my wet hair. But then I started thinking, Is it right for rats to be talking? Or act like regular humans? Or even be this big?!, "How did you guys get down here,anyway?"

        They all chuckled, then the largest, Bennie scilenced them, "There was human, just like you, who fell down into the same man hole. While he was down here, he made a injection that can turn humans into rats. The liquid got into the wrong hands... Er, or should I say paws? Anyway, the evil doers, as we call them, have been taking innocent people and turning them into rats, to use them as their slaves."

        My eyes widened, "T-that's what happened to you?"

        Ted nodded, "Luckily, we were able to escape."

        Bennie stood up and shook is pelt to rid all of the dirt. He moved over to me, "Sorry, kid." he whispered hitting me in the head.

        I was in shock at first, but then the pain finally got to me. I felt my back hit the ground with a thud, while my vision was getting blurry. The last thing I saw Ted leaning over an picking me up.
