Cora was flying with all her might as we got nearer and nearer to my way out of here. Luckily, the rats lost us, so we were finally able to rest. Cora, again, flopped onto her back, "Gimme that sandwich." she rapsed.
I handed it to her while nibbling on mine, "So, how much longer?" I asked finishing off the crust.
Cora inhaled her half, "About half an hour, maybe a bit longer." she raised her head, "You have any clean water on you?"
I nodded, handing her a water bottle, "Don't drink too much, we have to save it." I reminded her cleaning everything up, "We should be getting ready." I snatched the water bottle from her and threw it into the bag.
"Hop on,"she stood up making it so that I could get on.
I climbed on, "To NYC we go!" I called as we became airborn.
I clung to Cora as I spotted the dim light of the hole. I heard sirens outside, but not my mother or my brother, not even my father. I gave Cora a little kick in the side to speed her up, "Hurry up!" I called to her.
I heard a call come from, what sounded like a poliece officer, "Did you hear that?!" he said with excitment.
Cora flew right under the hole and did a spiral while she flew up, revieling the afternoon sunlight. My eyes burned from the light, but it was a good burn. I heard some screams come from people as we soared out. I gave a cheerful yell as I saw my regular coffe brown nose return, "Go to my house," I pointed to a large bulding, "I have the one with purple shades, 20 floor."
Cora soared up to my window stopping right infront. I scrambled in before my regular body returned. I quickly slipped into a purple shirt and jeans. I ran out of my door to see Mom and Dad sitting at the couch, both with bags under their eyes. Beside them was my brother, covering his face with his hands.
"Hi, Mom, Dad, Mikey." I was smiling at them, not realizing how ratty my hair looked. (Pun intended)
Mom let out a joyful scream as she got up and ran over to him giving me hug, "Sweetie," she said happily through her tears, "You smell terrible." she said with a small laugh kissing my forhead.
My dad was hugging me and my mom, "I'm so happy your home." he smiled down at me.
Mikey gave me a fistbumb, "How did you get in here if we didn't see you enter the door?" then he looked at my clothes, "And how did you change?"
That's when I had to explain them the story, with a little bat friend at my side.
