Yeah I could die happy for a moment
Happy 'cause you stole my spare time

"Hey, Bucky you wanna do something?"

You were currently seated in the living room at the compound, watching a movie. The whole rest of the team was either on a mission, or out, with it being a Friday night. So when Bucky walked in, you jumped  at the chance to do something with him, just the two of you.

"Sure, doll. What did you have in mind?" He asked as he swiveled around to face you. He had a small smile on his face from the fact that he now has a chance to do something with you, alone.

I met a girl, she had expensive perfume
Was a waste of money, didn't smell so lovely like you

You took a moment to think, "Can we go eat somewhere?" You asked hoping he would like the idea.

He grinned at you as he replied, "Whatever you want, doll."

And now you're on my steps up late night
Chain smoking Pallmalls while I philosophize

You let your face break into a huge grin as you said ecstatically, "Great! Just give me a few minutes to get ready!"

Bucky watched you scramble off to your room, chuckling slightly at your childlike excitement. He knew it was going to be a good night.

After a little, you emerged from your room, ready for tonight's adventure. You weren't wearing anything special, just jeans and a boxy t-shirt, but nevertheless, Bucky thought you looked stunning as ever. "You look great, (Y/N)."

"Thanks, Buck." You giggled, cheeks turning a light shade of pink. "We ready to go?"

Glass sky, killin' time
You leaned up in my shoulder
And my thoughts dried
Didn't mind

As you reached the car, Bucky opened held the passenger door for you. You awkwardly muttered a quick 'thank you' and got in.

"Where are we headed, doll?" He asked with the Brooklyn charm that you adored.

You racked your brain, finally remembering seeing a little diner the other diner the other day that was just adorable. "I saw a cute little diner the other day, does that sound good?" You asked, hoping that would bring him some form of nostalgia.

As he put the car in reverse and began to pull out of the garage, he replied. "That sounds wonderful."

So alive
I felt like I could die
Happy for a moment
Happy 'cause you stole my spare time

As you entered the diner, it was as cute as you imagined. Plush, red, booths and retro decor. As you sat down in one of the booths, you practically sunk into the seat.

You both ordered a burger and a milkshake, and while you waited for your food to come out, you tried to strike up a conversation.

"Do you ever miss it, Buck"?

He looked right into your eyes at your words knowing exactly what you meant. "Sometimes, doll, but then I remember that if none of it ever happened, I wouldn't have met you."

Yeah I could die
Now that I've been floating
High upon the smoke in
Your eyes

You were stunned. You struggled to keep your jaw from dropping open. But then of course, as waiters always do, yours just happened to show up.

You both muttered a quick thank you in an attempt to hurry them along, and thankfully it worked.

Bucky then just sat there waiting for a response.

You took a small moment to compose yourself before speaking. "Even though all the things that you've been through have been horrible, I'm thankful, because they brought you to me. I really like spending time with you, Bucky."

And in the darkness we leave our bodies,
Leave our bodies, so alive

"I really like you, (Y/N). And I hope you'll go steady with me." He replied, slowly leaning in towards you.

"I'd love to go steady with you, Barnes." You whispered just before you closed the gap between the two of you, accidentally tipping over your milkshake in the process.

So alive
I felt like I could die
Happy for a moment
Happy 'cause you stole my spare time

As you pulled away you were both sent spiraling into a fit of giggles. You help clean it up, then payed; leaving an extra large tip for the poor young girl waiting your table, and left. The food was long forgotten, and all the two of you were thinking about was getting back to the compound to spend the rest of the night together.

Yeah I could die
Now that I've been floating
High upon the smoke in
Your eyes
