Chapter 4: Earth Kills

Alex POV:

I wake up to someone moaning in pain. I look over to see Jasper. Clarke is beside him checking his pulse. I get up and walk over to them, I kneel down. Clarke looks over at me "His pulse is three eighty."

"That's not good" 

"How's your arm?" I lift my sleeve to see it is almost healed.

"It looks good will just have to watch it" We then hear shouting from down below "Go back to sleep" "Quiet".

"Don't listen to them. You're gonna make it through this, okay? Promise" Clarke says.

"Can he just die already?" I get tired of this so I shout back "Hey, how about you shut up before I throw a spear at you!"

"Thanks. I'm gonna get clean water. Keep an eye on him."

"No you keep an eye on him. I can get the water" I say as I get up and start heading down. When I'm getting the water I hear someone screaming. I run forward following the sound of the scream, I then see a girl leaning up against a tree. I go up and shake her shoulder to wake her up.

"Hey, wake up. It's okay, your ok. It was just a dream. I'm Alex" I say as I put my hand out for her to shake. She hesitates at first, but after a few seconds she put her hand in mine to shake. "I'm Charlotte"

"Well Charlotte it's nice to meet you. That dream that you were just having do you want to talk about?"

"It's... It's my parents. They were floated and they... and I see it in my dreams and I just..."

"Hey it's ok, I understand I lost someone who was really close to me to. So, how did you end up here?"

"Well... we were taking my parents things to the redistribution center and... I kind of lost it. They said I assaulted a guard."

"I can't say I blame you, I would do the exact same thing." I look up and see the Ark "See that bright star up there? That's the Ark orbiting above us. I think whatever happened up there, was there your past life. Down here this is your new life, a new start, a second chance." I say.

"Do you really believe that?"

"Yeah, I do" I put my arm around her shoulder to pull her close and to comfort her, she slowly falls asleep, while she does I look back up to the Ark wondering what they are doing up there. My eyes become heavy as I fall asleep to the calm sound of the wind blowing in the trees.

Skip ahead:

When I wake up Charlotte is still asleep, I slowly remove my arm and stand up. I head to the drop-ship and head up to see how Jasper is doing. When I am climbing up the ladder I hear screaming, I then hurry up to see what's going on. When I get up there I see them holding down Jasper as Clarke is holding a burning knife to his wound.

"Hold him still. I need to cut away the infected flesh." Clarke shouts.

I then see Octavia run past me "Stop it! You're killing him"

"She's trying to save his life" Finn says

"She can't" I turn around to see Bellamy. Wells comes up and stands in front of me to "protect me" but he should know I can protect myself. 

"Back off" Wells says

"We didn't drag him through miles of woods just to let him die" Clarke says.

"Kid's a goner. If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy."

"Sorry if Jasper's an inconvenience to you, but this isn't the Ark. Down here. every life matters."

"Take a look at him. He's a lost cause." I get tired of this so I go up to Bellamy.
