Jason prepared his squad for the upcoming expedition. They will be joining Mike's Squad and head to the base with the suspected recruits. "Ok! Everyone has everything they need?! ODM Gear included!" "Yes Sir!" "Alright! Let's go meet up with Squad Mike at the stables!" Jason and his squad walk to the stables. "Hey, Mike!" "Hey, Jason. Ready to go?" "Yep." "Ok. Let's go." They all mounted their horses and were off. Once they got to the base they decided rooms, who gets what patrols, and so on. Jason sharing a room with Mike, which might be tough due to Jason's inability to get the proper amount of sleep because he likes staying up late to watch the stars. Mike doesn't mind that because sometimes he will join Jason. It's nothing romantic just a little thing the two do sometimes. A couple of days past and both squads were on patrol Jason is standing next to Mike when Mike stops and sniffs the air. "What is Mike?" Nanaba asked. "Tomas ride out of here, take 3 curriers. Notify the districts! We've got multiple Titans incoming from the south! Wall Rose has been compromised!" "What! You're kidding! Seth go with Tomas!" "Yes Sir!" Seth said. Nanaba goes and warns the recruits while Mike and Jason go to the roof of one of the other buildings. "Mike?" "Hm?" "Do you think we'll be ok?" "I don't know Jason, but based off our skill levels I believe so." Jason let a sigh of relief escape. "Mike!" Nanaba said as she arrived where the two were standing. "9 of them, in that swarm up there." Mike pointed out. "They must have broken through Wall Rose. Damn it we never even got to the chance to figure out what in God's name these things are. Now it's too late. Humanity's lost. This is the end." Nanaba said. "Damn Nanaba, no need to be so negative. That's my job." Jason said trying to lighten the tension. "Like hell it is. We're not done. Not yet. A person only loses when they give in. Remember that." "Wow Mike, you're getting me fired up!" Jason said as his urge for a good fight rose. "As long as we keep putting up a fight, we haven't been beaten." Mike said. Jason felt encouraged by Mike's words. We go and get out horses, meet up with everyone else, and leave. " THE SECOND THE TITANS REACH THE WOODS WE'LL SPLIT UP! I WANT 4 SEPARATE TEAMS! RECRUITS AND SOLDIERS ALIKE IN EACH UNIT! WHEN I GIVE THE SIGNAL WE'LL SCATTER IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS SIMULTANEOUSLY! GET WORD OUT TO CIVILIANS! DO NOT ENGAGE THE ENEMY! WHICH ONE OF YOU IS MOST FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA!?" Mike barked orders. Sasha raised her hand. "Um... I am Sir. My hometown is just to the north of here. I know this region like the back of my hand."Sasha turns towards Connie. "Connie too! Go on tell him!" She encourages. Connie said nothing. "What's wrong?" Sasha beckons. "My village is to the south, that's where the titans are coming from. I can lead you to nearby settlements but afterwards let me go home please." Connie explains. "Very well." Mike approved. "Ray, Luka, Sirius, and Jane listen, once we split up please just make it out alive. Especially you, Jane, I'm not losing my little sister today." "SCATTER NOW! RIDE FOR EVERYTHING YOU'RE WORTH!" Mike orders. They continue to ride but Mike noticed something. "No! They're coming at up full speed! Gelgar! Take charge of the southern Team!" "Ray you too!" Jason follows Mike. "SIR!? Umm...understood!" "Tell me they're not using themselves as bait?!" "I'll go with them! I can help" "Stay where you are! Give them credit. Both men's skills are second and third only to captain Levi's. They'll make it out alive!"

Jason is riding next to Mike ready to attack. He jumps off his horse and uses his gear following Mike's lead. "AAAAAAHHHH" Jason screams as he kills a titan. He and Mike were able to kill 5 out of the 9. Both landing on the roof of a building, Mike observes the other titans. "Hey, Mike?" "What is it? Something the matter? "No, I'm fine. I just want to let you know that if we die, I love you." "I love you too." Mike and Jason call their horses but keep a close eye on the beast-like titan. They spot their horses and Jason lets out a sigh of relief. The beast titan suddenly picks up Mike's horse and throws it at the two men. They dodge it but Jason grabs Mike's hand keeping him from falling off the roof but both can feel the grip slipping. "Just let go of me. I'll be fine." "No way! You'll end up in the titan's mouth!" "Jason, trust me! The grip you have, it's starting to slip." "I know!" "Just let go and I'll use my gear!" "Damn it, Mike! Usually, I'm reckless one!" "Just do it!" "Fine! I love you so much, Mike!" Jason knows what will happen and the tears start forming. "I love you too Jace." And with that Jason let go of Mike. Mike fell into the titan's mouth and it bit his legs. Mike screamed as Jason cried knowing there was nothing he could do. The beast titan came over and told the titan eating Mike to stop. When it didn't it crushed its head dropping Mike. Jason swings down next to Mike. "Are you alright!?" He says in a low whisper. Mike nods but it's obvious that his legs are broken. The beast titan spoke directly at them. "May I ask what you call that strange weapon of yours?" The two gasp but say nothing. "That attached to your waist that allows you to fly?" Both men are silent, terrified of the thing in front of them. "Hmm? I'm fairly certain we speak the same language. Perhaps you're too frightened to formulate a response." Jason grabs Mike's hand and squeezes it. Mike squeezes Jason's hand in response. "I noticed you also use swords. Fascinating. Must mean you know we reside in the nape. Suppose I'll just take it back with me." The beast titan reaches towards Mike. Mike screams and Jason quickly hugs him then stands up defending Mike. The beast titan takes notice of Jason's defensive stance. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt him." The beast titan addressed Jason and proceeds to take Mike's gear and walk away. Jason falls to the ground, arms wrapped around Mike. "Let's get out of here." "Jason, leave me here." "WHAT! NO! ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOU HAVE NO GEAR AND YOUR LEGS ARE BROKEN, THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN GET OUT!" "You don't think I know that! There's no hope for me Jason." "Remember what you told me and Nanaba before this! Told us to never forget it!" Jason triggered something in Mike's mind. Mike screams but not in pain, in determination and rage. The beast titan turns around and tells the other titans that they can move. "JASON GET OUT OF HERE NOW!!" "NOT WITHOUT YOU! IF YOU'RE GOING TO DIE THEN I'M DYING WITH YOU!" "ABSOLUTELY NOT! I'M NOT GOING TO LET YOU DO THAT!" "FINE! THEN YOU'RE COMING WITH ME!" "NO! JASON LISTEN TO ME PLEASE! YOUR SQUAD NEEDS YOU! MINE WILL BE FINE WITHOUT ME!" "OUR SQUADS COULD ALREADY BE DEAD MIKE!" "YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!" "I KNOW I DON'T THAT! I'M PREPARING FOR THE WORST!" Jason's tears stream down his face. "Mike, please! Let me help you!" His voice breaking as he speaks. "I'm sorry Jason, I can't. Just go! Save yourself! Not me!" Both men are crying. Jason hugs Mike tightly. "I love you, Jason. I have since I met you. You're the best thing that happened to me." "I love you too Mike. I have to say the same about you." Mike leaned in and kissed Jason, who obviously kissed back. "Be safe my Prince, we'll meet again in another lifetime." Mike said softly. "Goodbye, Mike. I love you." Jason swings back to the roof. The titans rush Mike. Jason hears his screams of agony and turns around. He freezes and watches as Mike gets ripped apart by the titans. Jason screams, Tears streaming down his face. Mike looks up at Jason right as he gets ripped in half. "NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!" Jason collapses on the roof, sobbing. He composed himself but still silently cries as he mounts his horse. He heads to Utgard Castle since it's in the area. Once he arrived he finds the rest of the group. Nanaba rushes to Jason. "Where's Mike?" Jason looks at Nanaba, the tears and the look in his eyes say it all. Nanaba gasps tears starting to form. Jason dismounts his horse and hugs Nanaba. Both soldiers silently crying over the dead squad leader. They go inside and Jason's squad can read the mood of their leader. Jason tells everyone what happened to Mike, choking up as he does so. He also tells them about the relationship they were in.

Jason's squad and the recruits were the only ones left. Most of his squad members were badly injured and unconscious. Levi looks at Jason and puts a hand on his shoulder. "What happened? I know you don't want to talk about it but we need to know." "I'll tell you when we get so I can tell Erwin at the same time." Levi let out a sigh. "Fine. But don't avoid us when we get back. I'm only saying that because that's what you did last time." "Yeah I know I just wasn't ready to talk about it. I'm not ready to talk this ether." They get back and Levi finds Erwin. "Jason. Seth and Tomas are okay." "Good." Levi asked Jason what happened again. "Aside from what Tomas and Seth told you. Mike and I stayed behind to buy the others time. Mike...He...I don't want to talk about it." Jason starts crying again. "I'm sorry for being so weak." "It's ok Jason, I know it's hard for you to talk about it but what happened to Mike?" "Mike is dead! He's dead Erwin! I couldn't save him! All I could do was watch as he got ripped apart."
-3 years after the incident-
Jason goes to Mike's grave with some flowers and a letter.
