Chapter 20:
Evander's POV:
Luridus and I cuddle together on my bed. When we got home I got a very long lecture from not only Slayd, but Viridis too. You'd think Viridis was my mother and that Slayd was my annoying older brother figure or something. Sheesh, I'm an adult, I can make my own decisions. I should be able to make them without those two having a hissy because I didn't tell them where I was going.
Luridus strokes my hair and I tap my fingers along his chest. We're both tired from all the stuff that happened today. It was weird once people started piling up in Zane's house. Most of the people I didn't know, but I knew their species. I could smell each of them. One of them it was hard to quite place what species, but I figured it out. It was a Xelu. You don't really see them much. I've only ever met one Xelu in my entire life. He was pretty nice, though I'm not really fond of him. He was a bit of a weirdo. Plus, he always tricked people with his ice. I'm not much for tricky people. I don't like getting tricked.
"Mm, I never though Ursula would be so giving." Luridus murmurs, sliding his hand under my shirt. I close my eyes, enjoying the feel of his hands on my flesh. He leans in and our lips mold together in a kiss. He pulls away with a small smile.
"She mentioned Slayd, which is why I think she let us go." I murmur, pressing my lips to his in another kiss.
Our relationship is weird, I mean I literally pounced on him before we really got to know each other. He has such nice tasting blood. I'm glad I've met him. I feel much happier now.
"Luridus..." I groan as he starts groping me.
"Hmm...?" He kisses down my neck and nips at the area he bit me, which is just a flame shaped scar now.
"I want us to wait a bit before going all the way." I say. He pulls away and stares at me in surprise.
"Why?" He asks.
"Well... It's just the past couple years I've been sleeping around with people who mean nothing to me," I take his hand in mine, "I want our first time to be more special, and more romantic." He smiles and nods in understanding.
"I understand." He kisses my forehead and pulls me into his chest. I take in his scent and close my eyes, letting sleep take me.
....
"I don't like Zane, why do we have to go over there again?" Slayd complains as soon as I enter the kitchen. I sigh and ignore him, opening the fridge. Human food isn't the best, but I don't care. I want some food that isn't red.
"Shut up Slayd." I yawn, grabbing some bagels and cream cheese. Slayd groans in annoyance.
"He's rude, he said I was mean." Slayd scoops some cereal into his mouth.
"That's because to Zane, you are mean." I reply as I put a couple of blue berry bagels into the toaster.
"That's irrelevant. I am nice as pie." I snort at that.
"Slayd, are you on drugs?" I ask him, turning to face him with a smirk on my face.
"Evander, human drugs have no effect on me. I didn't have any nonhuman drugs either. I'm just... I don't know." He sighs and pushes his cereal bowl away.
"Slayd? What's wrong?" I sit down across from him. He shakes his head.
"It's just... Now that Blain and Lorcan have officially been labeled as alive, I don't know what to do. The darkness in people's hearts are fading. Yet, I can't get rid of mine. I'm ugly with darkness." He puts his face in his hands and shakes his head.
