Y/N had been thinking about what it would be like to meet Beth ever since she stepped on the train, but what she imagined was nothing like this. She felt a rush in her stomach as she looked Beth in the eyes.

"Hello, Beth- uhhh- Ms. Harmon." She gulped as Beth looked at her confused. "I am- uhh a friend of Benny. Benny Watts." Beth looked startled and then replied, "Come in." Y/N followed her inside the house. She looked around and saw a beautiful piano and a comfy-looking living room. "Your house is really nice," Y/N said looking around. "Oh uh, thanks," Beth responded but her mind seemed to be somewhere else. Y/N noticed the empty bottles still on the table. She looked at Beth a little more carefully. She looked high.

"So umm why are you here then? Did something happen to Benny?" Beth said as she sat on her couch. "Ohh no. I mean yes. I mean he is not doing so well. I've tried to help him but nothing I do is helping. He needs someone like you who knows exactly what he is going through and well I thought that-" Beth interrupted her. "Listen, I feel terrible about what's happening to Benny, but I can't help I'm sorry. " Beth got up and started to walk away. "Wait! Please! He is going to lose the apartment! He will lose everything! He already gave up on getting a job and I just.. just need to help him. You are the last chance for him."

Beth turned around. She looked so emotionless. "If I came with you he would just be reminded of what happened. It would hurt him more. I wish I could help I wish more than anything." Y/N saw tears start to form in the corners of her eyes. "Please!! I need your help!" Y/N replied desperately. Beth started to walk closer to Y/N and Beth seemed to be getting irritated. "I hurt him!! He hates me!" Beth was only a few inches from her face now. "He doesn't hate you! He needs you!" Y/N yelled staring into Beth's eyes. She was determined to help Benny no matter the costs. "He does! I ruined him! I was the one who caused this fucking mess! I was the idiot who slept with his best friend!"

Y/N knew it was a bad breakup but she didn't know exactly what happened between them. She looked at the helpless girl in front of her. The girl who was having trouble just standing up. She realized that maybe Beth was the one who needed serious help. Noticing how close Beth was to Y/N she stumbled back a little bit. Beth walked over and fell sitting on the couch.

Y/N felt that she needed to help her. She felt a connection. She didn't know why, but she wanted to comfort her. She also knew that Beth hurt her brother. However, this girl, she looked so weak and so pathetic. She needed the help.

Y/N was not good at comforting people. She always felt awkward whenever she tried to talk to Benny. She walked to the couch and sat herself down next to Beth. "Look, uh I'm sorry. I didn't know what happened. I guess he just figured it was better not to tell me. But..." Y/N looked at Beth. Really looked. "But I have this feeling. I can't explain it but if you maybe.. maybe got better maybe Benny could too. Maybe Benny could find a way to be better if you prove that you can sober up and be good enough for him." Beth looked at her with sad eyes. "If I went... Benny would get worse... He would just drink more when he sees me." Beth looked awful. "Besides I can't get sober. I tried. I tried when I was with Benny. I really really fucking tried. But it just kept calling me and I couldn't take it. And look what it did to me. It ruined everything. I lost Benny because of it." Y/N needed this to work. She needed her brother back. "Exactly why you need to stop. You can't let it control you like this! I will help you. I know a bit about how to fight it." She said as the thoughts of 12 years ago came back into her mind.

She stared at Beth with endearing eyes. She felt her pain, but her brother forgave her so maybe he could forgive Beth as well.

"Here let me help you up," Y/N said as she grabbed Beth's hands and pulled her up. All of a sudden Y/N's stomach felt fluttery. She didn't know why but it felt calming and she wanted the feeling to last forever. She looked Beth in the eyes and gave her a reassuring smile. "I will help you get better. This time it will last. I promise you." Beth let go of her hands and just replied. "I hope your right." Y/N immediately said back "I am. Now follow me we need to get you out of this hell-hole. I have an apartment we can stay in until you are alright. Now follow me." She put out her hand and Beth grabbed it. "Now let's get you fixed up." Y/N opened the front door and Beth walked out of the house for the first time in three months.
