The Lost Night {Marauders story}

Chapter 2---The Mysterious Secret

As the two knocked on the door, a sudden yell from up the street alerted them, it was James. "PADFOOT, MOONY!" he shouted. "Walk on in, your not strangers," he laughed as he approached them.

"Yes Prongs, we know that but it is always nice to be polite," Remus replied back to him.

"Classic Moony, always being good," Sirius joked.

"You know Moony, you remind me of Lily, always being nice. It wouldn't kill her to be a bit of a baddie!" James said to them. Sirius bumped shoulders with James as they did when they saw each other as Remus stood there arms crossed laughing.

"Hi guys, you know I can hear you from inside," Lily said, eyeing James who turned away instantly. "The neighbours will be complaining and they are horrible muggles trust me," she laughed.

"Alright Lils," James said trying not to make eye contact with her. Sirius ran right past Lily almost knocking her off her feet to get to Harry while Remus apologized to Lily for Sirius's behavior.

"Moony, you are like a father to him," James joked. 

"Well with Padfoots behavior, I think I better keep it up," Remus replied. As James and Remus walked inside what greeted them in the kitchen was a timid looking outline. Sirius walked out of the living room to see what they were looking at. No one could make out the outline until it walked forward into the light. It was Peter and he looked as tired and frightened as ever and this didn't sit right with Remus.

As Lily comforted Peter in the living room and James was telling Sirius a funny story of Harry on his broom, Remus couldn't understand what could cause Peter to be so stressed. He hadn't been on any Order missions lately and he certainly hadn't been helping anyone because neither James, Lily, Sirius or Remus had seen him for two weeks.
