I never noticed

Chapter 3: Fatigue

*Marinette's Room*

"Ok next weekend it is, Bye Luka!" Marinette quickly hung up and placed her head on her desk. This should be a big deal for her, she had finally decided to move on from the love of her life but she was completely exhausted that she didn't even have time to consider if this was an accomplishment or hindrance. She quickly dosed off.

A loud alarm sounded and Marinette quickly sat up straight. She grabbed her phone and checked the time.

"I'll sleep for 5 more minutes" Marinette thought. She went to go lay back down on her desk but was interrupted by Tikki. Tikki used all of her strength to hold Marinette's head up from her desk. "Marinette you're going to be late, you have to wake up!" Tikki said letting go of her head causing it to slam against her hard desk.

"Ouch!" Mari yelped. "What was that for!"

"You weren't going to wake up if I didn't do that." Tikki said, "Now get up! You need to get to school!" Tikki started grabbing Marinette's school books spread across her desk from the night before and began placing them in her bag.

Marinette rubbed her eyes and started walking towards her closet. She searched through her clothes looking for something good to wear, but it was hard for her to keep her eyes open. Hawkmoth had been so unpredictable that her and Cat noir never knew when someone would become akumatizied. This meant many late nights for Marinette, just in case someone became akumitized at night. Managing school, designing, and saving Paris almost everyday left her exhausted.

She often wondered how Cat noir dealt with everything, she remembered the lie that she told him and a pit formed in her stomach. Then she remembered that she had a date with Luka planned for next week and the pit twisted tighter. She had gotten herself worked up and she tried to calm down.

She left it brush off her shoulders and she grabbed a random outfit. She was wearing a white tank top with a pink cardigan and blue jeans, pretty much as simple as you can get when it comes to clothes. She didn't have time to tie her hair up into their usual pigtails so after brushing it she decided to leave it down.

She grabbed her bag, a croissant, and a few cookies for Tikki as she rushed out the door hoping to make it to school on time.

*Adrien's room*

As soon as his alarm went off Adrien hoped out of bed. He was completely exhausted from the night before but tried not to let it show. As much as he loved sleep, a lack of sleep was the price to pay for the freedom he was able to experience at night.

Even if he didn't have an akuma to fight, he would often transform and leap from building to building enjoying the feeling of a separate life without restraints. He hated being stuck inside his house and the only things that really allowed him an outlet to be himself were Cat noir and school.

He was eager to get to school and see his friends, he needed a distraction from the night before. Ladybug's words from the night before were on constant replay in his head but he tried to interrupt his thoughts and begin getting ready for school. He got dressed quickly and made sure to grab some cheese for Plagg before heading to school.

*The school courtyard*

Marinette made it to the school just in time. She was running and without paying attention she just so happened to bump into her best friend.

"Geez Marinette are you ok?" Alya said displaying a face that expressed laughter and concern. Marinette looked down at her outfit only to realize her shirt was on inside out AND backwards. Marinette groaned, she was completely out of it.

"I'm completely exhausted. I honestly don't know how I am standing, my legs feel like jelly" Marinette responded pushing the hair that was dangling in front of her face over her shoulder.

Alya giggled and put her arm around her shoulder, "Why are you so tired girl?" Alya asked.

"I have so many things going on," Marinette began to explain. "Someone's I think maybe it would be easier if I wasn't Lady- LAYING SO MUCH PRESSURE ON MYSELF!" Marinette said quickly trying her best to cover up her mistake.

She hoped she didn't have anymore slip ups hinting at her secrets second life.

Marinette was deep in thought and as Alya let go of the hand that held her up is when she face planted.

"UGH!" she thought. "I wish I could be Ladybug all the time."

Once she began to stand up is when she realized that everyone was staring at her.

Alya and Nino had both offered to help her up, but as stubborn as she was Marinette, declined both hands and stood up herself. "I'm going to go to the bathroom." Marinette said dusting herself off. As Marinette began walking to the bathroom is when she almost tripped again, although this time she quickly changed her footing and escaped what would have been ultimate humiliation.

As Alya and Nino watched Marinette attempt to walk is when Nino leaned over to Alya.

"I think you should go with her, I don't know if she'll make it." Nino said into Alya's ear. "You're right." Alya replied.

She quickly planted a kiss on her boyfriend's cheek and chased after Marinette.
