Alexander went to his office room in his house and took out some paper, a quill, and some ink. As he began to write, he felt a few silent tears flow down his cheeks. He wiped them away as if they were nothing.
Laurens had followed him into the room. He watched Alexander push away his death as if it didn't matter. But he knew that it greatly affected Alexander, as it did him. "I'm so sorry...." Laurens said, staring at Alexander.
Alexander continued writing. "It's like I can still hear him" he thought out loud. "Oh, John....I miss you so very dearly....." Alexander continued writing, and a few tears fell on the paper.
Laurens smiled slightly at this. "I miss you as well, my dear little lion..." Laurens said (Hamilton used to have the nick name "little lion" during the revolution). He was right there with Alexander, but wasn't there at the same time.
Alexander looked around a bit. He then turned to see Laurens in his tattered, blood-soaked, military coat. Tear started to well up in his eyes seeing Laurens like this. "J-John?" he asked the ghostly figure that stood next to him. "Is-.....Is that y-you?"
Laurens had a surprised expression on his face. 'Can he see me? Can he hear me? How is this happening? I died!' Laurens thought. "Can you hear me, Alex?"
Alexander nodded as more tears filled his eyes, staring at Laurens with a look in his eyes he only had a few times before.
Laurens's eyes widened as tear filled his eyes. "Can you....see me?"
Alexander again nodded, looking even more shocked. "I-....but-.....you-....." he kept getting cut off by disbelief and sadness.
".....got shot in a battle and died?" Laurens completed Alexander's sentence. "I have no clue how you can see or hear me, so don't ask me."
Laurens tried hugging Alexander, even though he already knew he would pass right through Alexander. But this time, he didn't. Alexander hugged Laurens back, and held him tight as if not to loose him. "Please......don't leave me.......you can't go......you're time can't be up......not this soon.......I still need you, my dearest......" Alexander begged Laurens to stay with him.
Laurens sighed, hugging Alexander close. "We both already know neither of us can control that....I'm so sorry I had to put you through this....." Laurens responded. "I wish I could....then I could maybe be here with you...."
Alexander hugged Laurens tighter. It was true, he did know he had no control over life or death. But he just couldn't let Laurens go. "Please...." he said as tears began flowing out of his eyes like a waterfall.
Laurens pulled away from the hug, put his hands on Alexander's cheek, and gazed into his eyes. "If this will make you feel better, we shall do it one last time before we must base each other adieu..." Laurens said, still gazing into Alexander's eye.
"What do you me-" Alexander was about to ask Laurens what he meant when he got pulled into a deep kiss. He closed his eyes and then pulled Laurens in deeper, moving his hair away.
After a minute or so, they pulled back to breathe. Alexander was about to say something to Laurens when he opened his eyes to see Laurens not standing there any more. "John?......Laurens?......." Alexander asked. He expected an answer, but was left there in silence.
Laurens looked at Alexander. He already missed him. Alexander was looking right through Laurens. "I promise you, my dearest..." Laurens said, ".....we will see each other again someday....." Laurens was in just about as much disbelief about his death as Alexander was in, but he knew he had to let go. He turned to the door and left Alexander to the other side.
