I may not live to see our glory

As the Rebels and Redcoats charged into the battlefield, people started dropping like flies. Left and right, people were being shot. KI-crack! Smoke filled the air as some Redcoats get shot while loading their bayonets.

But I will gladly join the fight

It doesn't matter who they were. Black or white. Young or old. Nobody was safe. More Rebels got shot, forming a row of dead bodies on the ground.

And when our children tell our stories

Laurens ran over the bodies, holding his musket. He took out a bullet and some gunpowder and reloaded his gun. He fired and his a Redcoat in the eye.

They'll tell the story of tonight

He went to reload again, but noticed the Rebels were retreating. Someone said to retreat. Laurens quickly started running with them, firing back as he ran. He saw people being stabbed by bayonets. Then...he felt a sharp pain in his chest

He fell to the ground as a bullet went through his heart. He tried getting up and running again, but another bullet went right through his leg, preventing him from getting up. A young man got close and saw Laurens was struggling and in pain like the other soldiers. He was wearing a red coat with some blood on his pants, and was holding a bayonet, about to stab Laurens.
After a brief moment, another redcoat, a bit older than the one standing by Laurens, called out. "Hurry up! We don't have all day!"

Both Laurens and the younger soldier looked at each other, terrified looks in their eyes from the trauma of war. "I'm so sorry..." the young man said as he raised the bayonet, shutting his eyes tight. "...but this is for the war..." His bayonet went right into Laurens's gut.

He moved on to other soldiers and officers. Laurens just stared up at the sky, smiling slightly. 'It is most honorable for a man to die for his country' he thought. (Actual thing he said. Not exact, but kinda)

But the pain was unbearable, and he felt the life slipping out of him. He would never succeed with his plan now. He would miss the friends he made. But over all, he would miss Alexander....

He could hear a few gunshots in the distance. He even saw one fly above his head. He also heard screams of pain. Then everything went silent and black.

After a few minutes of nothingness, he appeared somewhere else unfamiliar to him. 'Where am I?' he thought as he looked around the room.
