The sounds of feet pattering against the hard wood floor woke me up.
Little giggles could be heard up and down the halls.
I sat up and stretched my limbs and took notice to the empty spot next to me in bed.
It was only 7am and they were already up making a ruckus.
Just as I was about to try and get a few more moments of sleep, I heard a loud boom and a scream.
"MOMMY!"
I ran out into the living room as quick as my legs would carry me which almost caused me to trip on the carpet.
"What happened," I said frantically.
"Nothing happened. Nothing at all babe," Michael said.
"Daddy broke it," Aubrey said, pointing at something behind Michael's back.
"Traitor," Michael said.
Aubrey stuck her tongue out at Michael.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to Michael then held out my hand.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Your elephant," aubrey said.
"I thought we were family," Michael said dramatically.
"Michael how could you break this?!" I yelled grabbing it.
I had seen this in a small boutique 2 years ago and absolutely needed it. It was black with white tribal printings. It went with mine and Michael's colour scheme -black and white- for the new and improved apartment. Okay it was the same apartment just pimped out thanks to Michael.
Honestly we would of had it all black but both of our our mums said we needed some light.
"Babe I'll get you a new one," Michael said smiling at me.
"Fine," I huffed.
Michael pecked my lips and hugged me.
"Ew mommy and daddy better not use tongue," aubrey said.
Michael and I turned around so fast and looked at our daughter. She stood there innocent as all get out.
"What did you just say?" I asked.
"Uncle Cal does it with his girlfriend ALL the time," aubrey said giggling.
"Yeah uncle Cal won't be babysitting you anymore," I said, "now c'mon it's time to get ready for school."
I picked her up in my arms and carried her to her room.
Michael and I were not the typical "oh little girl must have a pink room and frilly things" parents. Our daughters room was a mix of all things.
Her walls were white until when she was about 3 and painted over them while Michael was supposed to be watching her but instead was too busy worrying about his own masterpiece of a Pokemon. Instead of yelling at her, we decided to join her. So most of her wall has some pictures that she painted, pictures that Mikey and I painted, and just random paint splatters.
Her walls were also covered in posters. At just the age of 5 she already had a love for music. She had posters of one direction, 5sos, and even Ozzy Osbourne.
Michael and I allowed her to be as creative as she wanted.
"Where's your tie?" I asked rummaging through her drawer.
"It's ugly mum," she said rolling her eyes.
"Well excuse me miss fashionista," I said astounded, "you have to wear it with your uniform."
