Episode Twelve (Part Two) - "The Siege"
Word Count: 7581
A/N: Hey guys! So sorry this is so late, I had a nice, juicy case of writer's block as I was trying to write this chapter, plus two maaaaaaajor finals I had to finish for school, but everything should hopefully (fingers crossed) start to come out more consistently. Thank you so much for your patience and comments, they really do mean a lot to me. <3
Warnings: bad words, blood, bad guy deaths, barf, and bittersweet floof
The Razor Crest shook a little more violently than it should have as Din broke through the clouds of Nevarro, with you sitting in the chair behind him and the baby perched in his lap. Silently, he shut off the alarm that was blinking to his right and the other from uptop as a little turbulence rocked the ship.
With the city in sight straight ahead Din prepared to land, and he did his best to ignore the sputtering and quite worrying noises the ship made as he set it on the ground and began to power everything off.
When he swivelled around in his chair you were standing in the door of the cockpit with your cloak resting on your arm and your half up in a braid, and he smiled softly as you tied the elastic securely in your hair to keep it in place.
After you set your arms down and put the cloak on the back of a chair, you turned to go jump down the ladder into the hanger, but when he made no move to follow, you paused and quirked your brow at him.
"Are you coming? What are you waiting for?"
He stood up slowly and walked up to you, and chucked under your chin affectionately. "For your arms to be free so you can take the baby." Din practically shoved the Child into your arms with a grin before he jumped down, then looked up to see you roll your eyes and jump down into the hangar after him.
"You think I don't know that you like being with him?" you accused, watching as he pressed the button on the control pad to open the large hangar door with squinted eyes. "You can't be all tough guy on me, Din, I know you love him, too. You've just got your... reserved, blank, monotone way of showing it."
He sighed as the baby giggled in your arms and clutched onto the neckline of your shirt. Thank fuck he had a helmet over his face, because otherwise you would've been able to see the soft smile that adorned his lips as he watched you interact with the baby.
"Yeah, he's just a little boring, isn't he?" you cooed, picking up your blaster from the little table and setting it in the holster as the baby hummed and garbled up at you. "Yeah."
Din rolled his eyes and walked over to the half open door of the hangar to jump off the ramp, then looked up to grab your hand and help you jump down too.
"Looks like someone could use some repairs."
You both turned around at the sound of a deep voice to see Karga and Cara walk up to the ship side by side, and Din reached forward to Karga to greet him with a forearm handshake. "How's our credit around here?" he asked, a small smile on his face.
"I think something could be arranged," Karga chuckled, placing his hands on his hips as he glanced over at Cara. "Isn't that right, Marshal?"
Cara smiled softly down at you and the baby to affectionately rub the tip of one of the baby's ears. "I'm sure we can work somethin' out," she grinned, leaning in as you both pressed a kiss to each other's cheek.
You furrowed your eyebrows as you looked down at her. "Did you get... bigger?" you asked softly, your eyes widening. "Not in a bad way, of course! But like..." You flexed your arms to emphasize that her stature looked even more muscular than it had before, and Cara laughed and ruffled the top of your head.
