"Hey Takumi?"

A young high-school girl elbowed the equally aged boy walking next to her.

"Yeah?"

This now flustered boy turned to look at her, a confused expression plastered on his face.

"Do you have a race tonight, or can we finally hang out for once?"

The h/c haired girl picked on him as the two continued their long walk home from school. Usually when they walked home, another one of Takumi's friends, Itsuki, would tag along with him. But today this goofy boy was nowhere to be found. It was a warm spring day, and y/n really wanted some company from her 'best friend'. She had caught feelings for this quiet mannered yet stubborn boy a while back, yet she never had the guts to tell him. Her mixed emotions didn't really allow her to properly express this, instead she chose to just tease Takumi, a lot. He seemed to enjoy it too, the two becoming great friends only after a few short talks.

Takumi simply looked at her and chuckled.

"I promised we could hang out soon one time, and you will never let it go will you" He elbowed her back, y/n stumbling over while rubbing her arm, pretending like it hurt.

"Oh yeah? Well the first time we hung out was a disaster! How was I supposed to know you couldn't swim?"

Takumi scratched the back of his head, getting embarrassed over the fact that y/n had brought up their beach trip over the summer. The two had a great time, until y/n tried to coerce Takumi to come in the water with her. Turns out he did not really know how to swim, and this revelation only made y/n drag him deeper into the water. The waves really did take a number on him, but he eventually got the hang of it.

"Hey, it wasn't my idea to go there. And plus I thought if I told you you wouldn't like me."

The now self-conscious boy turned his head slightly away from y/n as a light pink blush slowly painted itself across his cheeks. He couldn't let y/n see this, he knew she would just poke more fun at him.

"Takumi. We've been friends and neighbors since we were babies, why in the world do you think not being able to swim would make me stop being your friend?"

He just shrugged his shoulders in response, still trying to hide those little red stains that had appeared on his cheeks.

The two made their way through the neighborhood, stopping for a moment to let the train pass, and then making their way onto Green shopping street. Y/n and her family had moved in when she was only a few months old, meaning that her and Takumi got to know each other real quick, they really clicked together.

Living across the street from the Fujiwara Tofu shop had its perks too, first off she got to see and bug Takumi whenever she wanted, yelling out of her window at him while he was on the balcony was one of her favorite activities. Secondly, Mr. Fujiwara would give her free tofu, something he wouldn't even do for his own son.

"Actually I don't have any plans other than washing the eight six. It got pretty muddy after my last match, but it's not like you would want to do that with me though." The boy scratched his head again as a light blush creeped on to his cheeks again.

"Are you kidding! I know how much you love that eight six, I would be honored to wash it with you." She gave a light smile, glancing over to meet Takumi's greyish blue eyes.

The two then made their way into the tofu shop, the small bell on the doot alerting Bunta to their entrance.

"Hello Mr. Fujiwara!" Y/n called out as she stepped through the curtain into the living room.

"Dad i'm home." Takumi didn't even glance at his father as he threw his school bag on the short table in the center of the room.

They got a blunt greeting from Bunta before heading outside with a few buckets they had found in the tofu kitchen.

Y/n hooked up the outside hose and turned the water on, oblivious to the fact that that Takumi was on the other end. He was staring down the hose for some reason, probably lost in a daydream per usual. As a stream of water came shooting out of the hose, Takumi was snapped back to reality. The poor boy was drenched in the cold water, his clothes becoming wet and soppy.

"Y/N SHUT THE WATER OFF!" He yelled while trying to cover the hose with his hand.

She couldn't help but laugh at the poor boy who was soaked, his hair was matted down over his eyes and the smile had disappeared from his face. Takumi was forming a devious idea in his mind. He hesitated before turning the hose back towards y/n, slightly covering the end with his thumb to cause a spray of water to come out. She too became soaked, the water droplets in the air were forming little rainbows to reflect of the white paint of the car which she ducked behind.

"I'M SHUTTING IT OFF I'M SHUTTING IT OFF!" Y/n yelled out, pleading for Takumi to spare her.

The two eventually filled the buckets, got some sponges out of the house, and got to work.

They scrubbed for about half an hour, small water fights occurring in between the work of washing. The constant blowing of bubbles and the splashes of water she would fling at him here and there certainly got on his nerves, but he put up with her antics until they had finished, the eight six now sparking in the afternoon sun.

"The eight six is so beautiful when it's clean" Y/n sighed, placing her hands on her hips while staring at the car.

"Yeah, but it's not as beautiful as you" He came up behind her slowly, y/n holding her breath.

"Takumi?" She whispered.

Her breath was finally released as she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and a chin rest on the top of her head. She leaned her head back, their eyes meeting for a moment before he pressed a light kiss to her forehead.
