As I got on the bus I wondered why almost all the kids seemed a couple years younger than me....and why some of the guys kept looking at me a certain way. . .
I later realized they were freshman and most people who are juniors already had cars.
The bus stopped in front of a large building with the words 'WSTON HIGH' written in bold letters. And then came the butterflies.
There were kids that looked my age some younger others older.lots of them. everywhere. I found it rather disturbing. They all seemed to be in crowds or groups of three or two chatting amongst each other. I wondered if the teachers picked out the groups. Or maybe they were friends. I could never keep friends.
No one els seemed to be alone standing in the middle of the parking space outside like a lost puppy. I made my way through the front doors. The hallways looked the same as when I came in to apply for the school with my mom. Except now they were kids everywhere. I gasped at the sight of two couples practically super glued to each other with their thongs down each other's throats.it didn't help keep the pancakes down.
After aimlessly standing and staring at nowhere in particular I made my way to the door that said AP OFFICE to get a schedule I would be needing. Not knowing wether to knock or not a just stood there staring at the door.right when I was about to reach for the door knob the door swing open and I came face to chest with a fairly tall person.
"Oh watch out there"said a deep voice
"I almost ran over you"
I just froze and slowly looking up to a golden eyed boy who now stood inches from my face.i jumped back looking like an idiot.
"Um" he cleared his throat eyes raking over me in a way that made me shiver and a bit disturbed.
"Sorry, um...eh...I-I haven't seen you around here are you new here?"
I nodded hopping he didn't expect me to talk and wouldn't ask any more questions.
"Oh...well then you're properly here to get your schedule" he said, why was he still talking to me?.
"Um... You're a senior. Right?" I shook my head
"Oh then a junior?" I forced a smiled and nodded
"Then you're properly going to have to sit through freshmen orientation" I frowned
" Don't worry I'll get you out of it" he said stepping aside so I could get into the office following a little too close behind.
After getting my schedule he led me through the now cleared hallway into I very huge auditorium filled with freshmen students.then took a seat beside me at the back.
"Um....I never got your name"
I got out my phone and typed in the words *Lina* then put the phone up to his face hoping he would get the hint.
"Oh um....hi Lina am Able"he said with a wide smile.
I forced another smile and nodded.
"You don't talk a lot do you?" He said with a questioning look
I just frowned and kept looking forward an the screen too far away to see. Why did he have to pick the back seats I thought they could barely see us back here.
"You can come out to the hallway before the bell rings for lunch so you won't be trampled by a sea of freshman". I shrugged wondering were lunch will be served.
He suddenly pooled my hand and we made a run for it out of the auditorium. No less than a minute later the bell rung an hundreds of students came rushing out of the auditorium wile Able led me to the cafeteria then gave a little wave and made his way to a table filled with who I guessed where his friends . And now I was all alone standing and staring in the middle of the cafeteria wile students rushed in line to where I guessed they bought lunch.
I made my way around looking for a place to sit. I had money but preferred to bring my own lunch.not knowing where to sit I made my way to the library. I had memorized the school map to make sure that I didn't get lost on my first day.
I found a quiet corner by the fantasy books and sat on the floor to eat.
A few mints later a short girl with Carmel colored skin and long light brown hair stood right in front of me. I Locke eyes with her she had kind brown eyes and a friendly smile.
"Um.... I usually sit here during lunch. the cafeteria can be a little rowdy sometimes" she said in a timid voice. I just stared at her then hurriedly started to gather my things to move to another spot.
"No no stop its fine you could stay!" she said startled. Once again I stared like an idiot.
"It's nice not to eat alone sometimes"again, I just stared
"Am Jaquan. It's nice to see someone els who has the same taste in books" she said gesturing to the book in my hand. I smiled wile she sat down cross-legged on the floor next to me.she had a brown sweater on and black jeans with brown boots.
"What's your name?" She asked wile I rambled through my backpack to get out my ID card and showed it to her.
"Lina"she said reading my name.
I looked worriedly at her. Thinking she might think it's odd that I haven't said a word to her like Able.
"It's okay, sometimes we don't need words" she said smiling her friendly smile as if she was reading my mind.
I smiled. But we do need words, I thought. You don't know how Important some things are until you loose them. Or don't have them.
How do you like the book so far?
Kinda boring.right? Don't worry it gets better!
