I woke up to my alarm, the sun hadn't shown itself yet, I sat up and rubbed my eyes, I covered my ears with my palms and cringed at the noise that was still present in my head, it wouldn't go away, a perpetual buzzing of silence that would go in circles in my mind never to cease, I got up and slipped into some fresh clothes and silently stepped into the hallway and down the stairs, into a cold and dark room filled with the stench of processed leather and metal. Up then down the slow repetition made my mind wander to places that it had not been in years, to corners of my brain that had developed an inch of dust, up and down over and over.
I walked up the stairs each step making my foot erupt in pain, I powered through the pain and into my shower, the cold stone slowly turned to warm I sat down on the shower floor and sat back against the wall, I focused on the water as it fell down onto my tired body and slid down onto the floor then down the drain, the buzzing noise was still present and made me want to curl up and stay there for the rest of my days, I tried to focus on something else, anything, I zoned out on the thought about my injured foot, it felt like the glass was still stuck in it, the pain came in waves and made me clench my hands into fists. The buzzing increased and all I could feel was my mind melt into nothingness, a liquid as it dissipates.
I stood there, above the clouds, the rock I stood on swayed side to side as I peered over the edge and into the nothingness, all around me I heard a voice, "JUMP!" my heart raced by those words, I refused but it wouldn't give up and repeated itself over again, "JUMP JUMP JUMP!" I obeyed and felt the feeling was heavenly I watched as the ground approached and I did not care. I woke up and coughed, water spurted out of my mouth and onto the wet stone of the shower floor, I felt like everything had been taken out of me, all my energy emptied in a second. I stared up at the tall wall at each stone, I stopped on one, a little crack had grown from the top and curved down to the bottom, I sighed and got out of the shower, I checked my phone it had been about a hour and a half since I entered the shower and the sun was high enough to blind me as I walked out of the bathroom and into my room, I got dressed and sat down at my desk and the screen lit up.
Ash and my mom walked into my room, I knew they were there, I dint need to turn around their unique smells filled my nose and was sectioned off into my mind where it was analyzed like a file, "you need something?" my eyes never left the screen, ash spoke up, "we need to film today, we made a plan and we need to stick to it" I turned my chair around "well then were gonna need a camera, do you have one?" she shook her head, "we could get one from the main house" I didn't like the fact of asking for something from the team after they've given us so much but I didn't have another plan, " yeah I guess that could work" we got ready and got into the car, my poor mother stuck in the cramped back seat of the red Ferrari, we drove away towards the main parts of the city.
As we pulled up to the large house, looked in the mirror at my moms expression the sense of awe twinkled in her eye, I parked and got out making sure to help my mom crawl out from the back seat, we walked up the short flight of stair and through the front door, every one was doing something different but one thing was everywhere you look, camera's, we walked into the backyard and found Carter sitting in a chair sipping some sort of bright yellow drink, "Casey! And Ash! My two favorite players! He got up and hugged us, the stench of alcohol lingered as he moved onto my mother, "and who is this?" he kissed my mother's hand, "that's my mom, she's here to watch the tournament" he wasn't even listening to me, "hey, Carter?" he didn't acknowledge me, "would you like to meet bolt?" she said yes, and was dragged off to a caged corner of the backyard that had a couple tarps covering the top, we followed them as the entered the dark cave to see a large wolf pacing back and forth in its cage watching us hungerly. Carter talked about the wolf and how much he was making by putting his players in the competition until I interrupted him, "we need a camera so we can go film, were losing good daylight hours so if we could move this along that would be great" he looked at me with disgust, "take one from the kitchen but please do bring it back we might end up using it one day" we rushed my mother through the hoards of people partying, grabbed the camera and made our way back to the front of the house and into the car, we all seemed to sigh as we relaxed, I started the engine and looked at ash and my mother, "you ready to film some content?"
