When she got to potions she noticed that Professor Slughorn wasn't there yet so she sat in an empty spot next to a red-head girl who she easily recognized as Lily Evans.

"May I sit here?" Iris asked, nervously.

"Sure." The red-haired said, taking her bag off the chair and putting it on the floor.

"Thanks, I'm Iris, by the way, Iris Hendrix." She stuck her hand out to shake, Lily smiled and connected her hand with the brunette.

"I'm Lily, Lily Evans. You're new right?" Lily crossed her arms and leaned on the table.

"Yes, I transferred from a school in France." Lie.

"Do you mean Beauxbatons Academy?" The red-head's eyes widened, she had recently read about the school.

"Yes, really nice school, unfortunately, I had to leave." Another lie.

Good thing Fleur needed to use the ladies room that one time leading Iris to find her lost and be-friending her, meaning she got information regarding the school.

"That's cool. Why did you transfer? If don't mind me asking."

"Not at all, Dumbledore wanted me to study here. He knew my parents." That wasn't an entire lie, it was half true. Dumbledore did want her there and he did know her parents.

"You must be a talented witch if Dumbledore wanted you to study here." Lily slightly gushed.

"I am. Wandless magic is my specialty I'm still trying to perfect wordless magic. Not to seem like a show-off." This was true in summer of 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧, 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐲-𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 James and Sirius would take her wand away and throw plates at her so she could stop them. And for wordless magic they would put a silencing charm on her...

Let's just say, Mrs. Wesley was not happy with the mess and with the fact that they silenced her daughter.

"That is amazing! Maybe you could teach me sometime?" Lily's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm.

"Of course." Iris grinned, she made another friend.

"Sorry, I'm late class. Professor Dumbledore was filling me in on something. Before we get started I would like to introduce you to our new student... Where is she?" Professor Slughorn looked around trying to spot Iris.

"I'm right here sir." The brunette stood up.

The whole class turned their attention to her.

"Well, please introduce yourself!" He smiled putting his things on his desk.

"Hello, uh, my name is Iris Erin Hendrix and I just transferred here from Beauxbatons Academy." She awkwardly sat down, looking embarrassed. But Lily made her feel better by giving her an encouraging smile.

"Excellent! Now back to class business..."

The class went normal, they learned about different plants that could be used to make a healing potions and that made Iris slightly smile.

She thought of one person. Neville Longbottom. Good friend, especially in Herbology. At first the boy was shy, intimidated, by her, but when she needed help with plants, he went to the rescue and helped her. In exchange she helped him with potions.

Once class was over she headed to the library, she was bored seeing as she had a free class. With her black, dirty converse, she made her way skipping soundlessly in the empty halls, she was about to tun the corner when suddenly she bumped into someone.

James.

"Hey, James." She greeted with a small smile.

"Oh, Hello Hendrix." The boy looked down sounding sad so, Iris decided to ask him about it.

"What's wrong? You look sad."

"It's nothing." He tried walking away, but Iris caught his arm before he took another step.

"No, it's not 'nothing' normally when I'm sad you comfort me. At least future you does. Now, what's wrong?" She asked again.

"Look Hendrix, you seem like a nice girl but I don't want to 'rain my sorrows on you'" He tried leaving again but she stopped him once more.

"James if you don't stop moving I'm going to have to put a charm on you. Now I'm going to ask you again, what's wrong?" She persisted, the stubborn girl just wouldn't give up.

He sighed.

"I don't know if I can trust you. I mean you are a Slytherin."

Iris felt her heart clench, at his words. She didn't know why but it hurt hearing James say that.

"Oh... Um, it's fine. I'll just let you be then." She turned and left, leaving the boy with instant regret.

He stood there like a statue seeing her leave, he didn't mean to be mean to her. He was just frustrated.

Getting rejected by the girl you've loved since first year hurts. Especially since that girl said 'I would rather get sent to Azkaban that date a toe-rag like you.'

Words do hurt people's egos. Ironic.

Meanwhile with Iris; she didn't blame James. Slytherins did have a bad reputation but something about him not trusting her hurt. So she decided to distract herself with books, seeing as she finished Hermione's stash. They weren't a lot anyways.

Once she decided on a muggle book, she checked out with Madam Prince. Half way towards her dorm, her stomach started growling, so she made her way towards the kitchens.
