Chapter 1: The idiots

"Ne, Dabi-kun, what would you do if a bomb were to go off in front of me and Shigi-kun? Who would you save—me or him?"

Large, topaz, cat-like eyes stared into blue sapphire ones widely, a big smile on her pretty face as she stepped in front of her larger, taller, leaner guy friend.

Dabi stopped stopped walking to stare at the smaller girl with a question on his face, his expression contorted in such a way that it was clear he was questioning her sanity profusely.

"Idiot, I'd chuck the bomb! Why the fuxx would there be a bomb in the first place?!" he exclaimed, his expression concerned as to why they'd been in a situation like that in the first place.

She giggled, a blush staining her fair cheeks as she exclaims, "But it can't be moved, and we're in a hostage situation where you're right outside the door!"

Her taller friend looked up at the sky a bit, contemplating it seriously before he looked down at his short, curvy, pretty girl friend.

"I'm right outside the door where the bomb is, right?" he clarified with a serious expression on his handsome yet masked face, as it was hidden beneath a black face mask.

"Yup~!"

"Then I'd save myself—ow!"

Himiko kicked him in the shin so hard he could've sworn the bone broke from the impact, before she turned around, her thin back facing him as she stomped away from her guy friend angrily, displeased with his answer. Dabi sighed, knowing he'd have to fix her poor mood or else she could hurt him even more; whenever she was overexcited or furious, she tended to get a bit... violent.

"Hey, Toga I—hah, slow down!— Let's be logical about this! I'd need to survive to catch the captors and avenge y'all! And possibly call 911 to save y'all! Think about it, that way we all win, and if you guys die, I'll throw the grandest fuxxing funeral for you and Hand-man by stealing my dad's money!"

Dabi managed to use his longer—albeit damaged—stride to limp to where Himiko was. Thankfully she'd stopped, clearly contemplating about the funeral service he'd offered and how he'd be willing to steal a bucket-load of cash from his dad to make that happen; she clearly enjoyed the offer he was presenting, but was still sad that he'd leave her for dead just like that.

In seeing that, Dabi decided to play the final card he had at his disposal.

"Besides, I get enough of a thrashing at home from the old man, I don't need anymore bruises from one of my only best friends."

With that, Himiko finally surrendered, her expression falling as she knew her tendencies had once again hurt one of the people she considered most dear.

Maybe if her parents actually cared enough to get her professional help, maybe she would've been better able to control the urges that she has to hurt stuff—but no, they were too afraid that their perfect looking family image would be tarnished by admitting her problem, and as such forced her to act like a regular girl.
