Four

Bioware owns everything- including my imagination!

Sorry for this one...I felt like humanizing Shepard and Miranda a bit. ;)

**Memoir**

I had dinner with the Normandy's crew- the second Normandy, that is- after I finished my last entry. It was more like a party- Liara had rented Eternity for us. I didn't really join the festivities so much as I watched and listened. I sat between Joker and Chakawas. Beside Joker was Tali and Garrus was beside Chakawas...even Liara was there. Only three...I mean, two...were missing- Wrex and...and Kaidan. Ash would've been number three.

I suppose that this is a good place to start the next part of this report.

-------------

It was 2183, a little less than a month after I turned twenty-nine, when I was assigned to the Normandy under the command of Captain David Anderson- a N7 operative as well. He introduced me to the helmsman who remained sitting, but saluted us all the same.

"This is Flight Lieutenant Jeff Moreau," the captain stated.

Joker quickly looked away from me, his face burning a brilliant red. "Please, Captain, it's just Joker- no need for all the formality."

"Joker, this is Commander Shepard. She's the second on this ship, understand?"

"Aye-aye, sir."

I almost smiled. While he wasn't disrespectful, there was an obvious note of sarcasm in his voice. It bothered me, though, that he hadn't stood and saluted- I later learned about his Vrolik's Syndrome. Little did I know that this sarcastic, funny man would become so loyal and a friend...and the cause of my death.

The captain continued the tour, introducing me to various members of the crew. I was introduced to Chakawas and, like Joker, I didn't know that we'd become friends.

Then we came to Kaidan Alenko. Before we actually got to him, I felt my stomach knot. I silently chastised myself- there were regs and I was his superior officer. When he noticed us, he quickly threw up a salute, but his eyes were on me.

"At ease, Lieutenant," the captain said easily. "I'm giving Commander Shepard a tour of the Normandy." The Captain looked over at me. "This is Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko. He's a sentinal."

I surveyed him, trying at ignore his looks. "Combining biotics and tech is a very good combination," I stated matter-of-factly.

"Thank you, ma'am."

I gave him a brief nod. "I was just stating a fact, Lieutenant."

-----------

So much happened in such a short time. We landed on Eden Prime and found it swarming with Geth and lost Jenkins but found Ash- Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams. Nihlus- a Turian Spectre traveling with us and evaluating me- died by the hand of another Turian Spectre gone rogue- Saren. While there, I saved Kaidan from a Prothean beacon and had a vision burned into my brain- a vision that I still wake up from some nights.

The Council didn't want to believe me about Saren going rogue. With the help of Garrus Vakarian- a Turian-, Urdnot Wrex- a Krogan-, and Tali'Zorah nar Rayya vas Neema (though, we only call her Tali)- a Quarian-, we proved that Saren was a traitor. During that mess, I became the first human Spectre because- in large part- of Elysium. I wanted to bounce my head off a wall when they told me that- all I did was my job...it didn't matter that I was off duty. My first mission as a Spectre was tracking down Saren.
