Chapter 12

Mr. Grayson was waiting for me in his Karmac Veron, and I could tell he already knew what happened. "Get in," he instructed. "Mr. Grayson, I can explain..." I said as I sat down. "Quiet, let's go," He commanded in an angry tone and began to drive.

He drove very fast for a guy of his stature, and I understood why. He wanted me to be punished by Miss Monroe, and he wanted it soon.

The door to the garage slid open automatically, and the car glided in. We screeched to a halt right in front of Miss Monroe. She stood there with her arms folded with anger and disappointment written all over her face. I got out of the car and bowed my head in shame as I walked up to her. She quickly turned, and I followed her silently to her office...

"Sit," she commanded, and I took a seat in front of her desk. Mr. Grayson stood by me eagerly, waiting for what was to happen. "Cole, I shouldn't tell you how disappointed I am," she said, and I just sat in silence.

"I was the one who enrolled you at Samdorado, so anything that you do directly affects me. I really want to punish you, but I will not." At the sound of this, Mr. Grayson's face fell in astonishment.

"I'm going to give you a warning, though. The next time this happens, forget about being a field agent". She permitted me to leave, and I was quite relieved. I was surely going to do it again, but this time with a little more planning.

"How was it"? Anne asked as she brought me my food at the café. "It wasn't that bad." "Hey, come on, I want to hear everything that happened," she insisted.

"If you insist. For starters, I got into trouble". I confessed, and she stared in silence. I began to narrate the event of the day to her, and she listened with rapt attention. "Cole, you aren't ..." I stopped her before she finished. "Don't worry, I'm not going to be caught the next time," I said, and she couldn't help but smile.

"So, how was your day?" I asked. "Nothing special," she replied. "Alright then, how about we go out for a walk I suggested, and she agreed.

That night, I found myself in Beregon City. I was back in the building I always found myself in. This time, instead of sneaking around, I was tied up. The iron door in front of me creaked open even though the person entering could have just used the big hole in the wall. The door fully swung open, and the only class S infected and the core of the Neuro Hex Virus, Nate, stepped in. He was dressed in a fighter's jacket and jeans with no shirt on, leaving his chest exposed. The skin of the left side of his chest had come out and was red. This, I was guessing, was his heart, and many veins were connected to it.

"Cole Pierce, I have been awaiting your arrival," He revealed. "How did you know my name?" I asked in surprise. "There are a lot of things I know about you." He pronounced. "I am here to warn you to back off. Don't think your immunity is going to help you against me. I wouldn't want to hurt you". "And if I don't?!" I shot back stubbornly. He grinned, "Let me show you what I can do," He said and held my head. His veins shot out of his hands and began to glow red. I felt chaos occurring in my system and screamed in agony.

"Aaahhh !!!" I shouted as I woke up from the dream or vision, who knew what it was. The truth is I've been experiencing these dreams every night since I arrived at N-Tek. I knew they were trying to tell me something, and my suspicions were cleared today; the dreams served as a warning. Somehow I was connected to Nate, and I didn't know why. I had never disclosed any of this to Miss Monroe, but one thing was clear. I wasn't going to quit. I was going to end this.

I got up from my bed and turned on my music box. I needed the soothing sound to get my mind of the dream as I got ready for school.
