Chapter 4

Soyeon went home that night with her mind spinning. She couldn't believe what she'd heard from Minnie because she didn't want to believe that someone would hurt her little girl. But a mafia? Why would a mafia hurt their sweet Minnie? Why would they go after her and break her like that?

"Oh, Minmin..." Soyeon bit her lip. "How do I tell them this? I know I have to... but it's going to be so hard."

"Is Minnie okay?" Shuhua gulped as she entered the dorm. "Did she tell you anything?"

"All of you, come here." The leader beckoned all of them to the couch. "We need to talk."

Yuqi was shaking as she sat down and Miyeon gently wrapped her arms around her. "Yuqi, it can't be that bad..."

"Girls..." Soyeon sighed. "Minnie was raped."

"WHAT?!" Yuqi screeched. "NO!"

"Easy, Yuqi," Miyeon murmured, pressing a hand to her chest. "Unnie, what exactly happened?"

"Minnie didn't give too much detail about who they were- she couldn't, because she didn't know- but since someone had told her once that she deserved to be destroyed by the mafia and... that's who she thinks it might have been. This is why she's always stayed in the center; she's afraid of our male bodyguards. This is why she's been cutting; she said it feels like the only way to get their fluid out of her, even though there's likely none left by now. She's apparently gotten numerous abortions and those have no doubt damaged her body. But honestly... I feel like there may be more to the story. She's been cutting for so long that I wonder if they've been coming after her recently..."

Yuqi looked as if she was about to faint. "No... oh, Minnie, how could we not have known...?"

"She told no one." Soyeon pursed her lips. "I checked her medical records on the way out and she was obviously embarrassed by it. The poor girl's genitals were almost completely destroyed and going to the bathroom was always so painful for her."

"Oh my god..." Soojin covered her mouth. "I just remembered... I heard her crying in the bathroom a few times and when I asked her what was wrong, she just said her period cramps were overwhelming her. But I... I think... I think she'd been recently raped by them..."

"You didn't go in?" Shuhua asked. "You didn't question it any further?"

"I didn't think it was right. We all get crazy on our periods and it's not really our business."

"Alright, how should we handle this then? She has to have left some kind of evidence that this was happening."

"Isn't that an invasion of her privacy?" Miyeon pointed out. 

"There's no privacy for her anymore if we want to save her," Soyeon exclaimed. "Yuqi, we're going to your room." 

Still shaking a little in Miyeon's arms, Yuqi quickly composed herself and led them all up to her and Minnie's room. 

"Alright, I vote we go through her laundry hamper," Shuhua suggested. "She's gotta have something in there that gives us an idea of how we can identify the people who did this."

"What would we find in there other than her bras and shirts and underwear and... oh..." Miyeon blanched. "You mean... we could find..."

"Yep. Now start looking."

Yuqi dumped out the basket and rummaged through it until she gasped and held up a pair of underwear. "Bingo."

Soyeon tilted her head. "I don't see anything."

"Look closer." She pointed to a spot and swallowed. "These looked like they were ripped off in shame and this stuff... it doesn't look like it comes from a girl." What she was gesturing to was a few globs of white liquid in the center of the underwear. "I think... it could be semen from one of them."

"But if they're part of the mafia, then won't they have made sure to cover their tracks and make sure they're not in the system?" Miyeon pointed out. 

"True..." Shuhua grimaced. "And not to mention... won't we humiliate Minnie if we make her panties evidence in an investigation? There's a reason she's been hiding this."

"Shuhua, are you crazy?" Soyeon hissed. "Those people are still out there and if we don't stop them, Minnie will be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her life, which won't be long if we don't help her!"

"Poor Minnie..." Yuqi peered at the underwear sadly. "How could she have gone through this for so long without telling us? I can't stand it... oh god, I don't even want to imagine it."

"I wish I didn't have to leave." She took a deep breath. "They don't know Minnie like we do. They don't know what could trigger her or what they could end up saying which will make her cry out for us. I know she has to stay there, but I don't like dealing with visiting hours when our poor little one is suffering and we have no way to comfort her during the night."

"I say we bring her a surprise tomorrow, maybe a stuffed cat and a card," Miyeon said quietly.

"You think a cat and a card will fix what she's been through?" Yuqi whined.

"We need to make her feel comfortable, Yuqi." Soyeon took the underwear from her. "And if we are careful, we'll make those miserable bastards who destroyed our fragile little Minnie wish they'd never been born."
