Simon was scared. He had broken his back in two different spots and he wasn't sure if he would be able to walk again. He was in an incredible amount of pain, with the surgery having been a day ago. He hadn't been able to see Eric and Adam at all since he had been taken away in the ambulance. He had seen Lauren once since he had woken up from surgery and she was only allowed to bring him clothes and his iPad and charger so he could do some work.

His iPad rang. Lauren was FaceTiming him. Simon's face lit up and he clicked on the call to answer it.

"Hi, 'Ren," he greeted, letting the smile take over his face. "I've missed you, Adam, and Eric, love." Talking to her helped him to forget most of the pain radiating from his back.

"We've missed you too, Si," Lauren replied. "I've got both of the boys with me in bed."

"I want to see them," Simon said excitedly. He wanted to see his sons. Although Adam was not his biological son, Simon considered the teenager to be his son. Lauren turned the camera to show both boys on the bed, Eric cuddled up to her and Adam playing something on his phone.

"Hi, Daddy!" Eric said, grinning. Simon grinned. He couldn't let Eric see his father in pain.

"Hi, Eric. Hi, Adam," Simon greeted back. "I miss the both of you."

"We miss you too, Dad," Adam said, putting down his phone. "How are you feeling?" Adam had started calling Simon Dad about two years ago, after Simon had talked to him about Simon possibly proposing to Lauren.

"I'm still in a lot of pain," Simon replied. "I'm going to have a really big scar after I get my stitches out in a few weeks. I'm going to need a lot of help when I go home in a couple days."

Simon was finally allowed to go home, still on high pain medication. He had been told to take it as long as he needed it and he had hired a personal nurse for himself to help with his care to ease the burden on his family. He was going to be dependent on Lauren, Adam, and Eric, for almost all of his needs and he didn't like it. Simon was a very independent man and he didn't like having to depend on anyone for his needs.

Lauren helped him into bed and climbed in with him. "How do you feel, Si?" She asked, cuddling up to him. It was uncomfortable for Simon to have Lauren's head on his chest, the way that they normally cuddled in bed.

"I'm in pain, love," Simon replied. He grimaced. The pain medications were wearing off and he was due for his next dosage in an hour. Lauren put her hand on his chest.

"It'll be alright," Lauren said. "I'll get you the next dose in an hour. Do you maybe want to try laying on your side? Will that help?"

Simon nodded and Lauren helped him onto his side and put a pillow in between his knees. It was one of the sleeping positions that were recommended by one of the surgeons that had done Simon's surgery. Simon smiled.

"Thank you," he said. "I love you, 'Ren."

"I love you too, Si," Lauren replied. She got in front of him so they could spoon. Simon wrapped his arms around his girlfriend and kissed her cheek. He could stay like that forever with Lauren.
