Red blood and a little girl

(Y/N) POV.

I'm all alone. Mother... Father... Why... Why did you have to die and leave me alone!? Why didn't you fight back?! That day, I remember the snow stained with blood. As I had walked inside the house I would see two bodies not moving and cold. My parents. I should have been there with them. Maybe, that way I wouldn't have been left alone. But now, I'm walking nowhere in the snow with my bag. The Artemis rod, along with my violin, was all I had with me. There are only two Artemis rods in existence, one that belongs to my family and the other to a Pureblood Vampire family. The violin that father gave me.

I stopped dead in my tracks as the faint scent of something unpleasant filled my nose. 'I'm in vampire territory?' I thought as the idea of a how vampires and demons having similar qualities darkly amused me, "Heh, vampires are just like demons..........just like me," I thought out loud. Walking straight without thinking, the scent of dry blood got a hold of my attention; a vampire was close by. I may be alone but I can still fight back. "Are you lost........Little girl," said a man with a raspy voice to the little girl who seemed to be two years younger than me. "May I drink your blood?" That may be a day I will never understand my actions. Something about that child made me move without thinking. Before I knew it I was carrying the girl away from the vampire. The only thought in my mind was "I have to protect her."

As I tried to run from the scene I tripped, dropping her in the snow two feet away from me. The little girl looked at me with teary eyes and for the first time in my life, I wanted to protect someone. I stood up to confront the vampire and threw a punch to the head. 'I won't let someone else die today! But what if I could have protected my parents?' As I lost my composer the vampire took it as a chance and dodged my punch. He grabbed my hair and tilted my neck to an angle to where he could bite my neck. The eyes filled with fear the little girl had reflected myself as I was about to be devoured. "NOOO!!!" I yelled as the next thing I saw was red liquid; blood. Not my own but someone else's, then my vision went dark from shock and exhaustion.

Third-person POV.

"You are a disgrace to all vampires." Said a strange boy as his hand went through the vampire's head. The vampire's blood splashed at the two girls as the boy then carried the girl that was unconscious on the red-stained snow. The small child that was on her knees simply looked at the boy as he extended his hand and asked, "Are you alright? Come with me. I'm Kaname. What's your name?" As Kaname said that the little girl started to weep. "You were scared, weren't you? It's alright now. I'll take you somewhere safe."

~MINI TIME SKIP~

Kaname took both girls to a friend of his, Kaien Cross. A very interesting fellow. The front door flew open as soon as Kaname knocked on the door. A single man appeared at the front of the door as he greeted Kaname cheerfully. "Kaname! What are you doing here? It's very late at night! Oh, you brought company with you. Come in! Those two will catch a cold out here in the snow." The three of them entered the house and headed toward the living room. "Mr. Cross, where can I place her?" Asked Kaname as he looked at the girl he was carrying. "Oh, on the sofa should be fine. Who is she by the way?" Kaname gently placed her on the sofa and continued to talk. " I thought you could answer that." Answered Kaname as he brushed away the hair out of the unconscious girl's face. As soon as the Headmaster saw who she was his eyes widened in disbelief.

"(Y/N)?! Where did you find her?" He asked as he couldn't believe that she of all people was alone in the snow. The little girl that had stayed by (Y/N)'s side the entire time stomach started to growl with hunger. Kaien chuckled and motioned Kaname to come with him to the kitchen. The small child stayed with (Y/N) even after Kaname and Kaien left.
