Veer entered his room to pick his jacket. The Navratri function was about to begin. Ponky had asked him for help with some last moment arrangements. Even when he had to hurry, he took a moment to notice Bani as she walked out of the bathroom. She smelled like raw honey and orchids. She was trying to adjust the blouse on her shoulder. Her hair wet.  She was wearing a lehenga. Not just any lehenga but the baby pink colored lehenga that he got for her. He had tried but he was not able to hand it to her personally because both of them were very busy preparing for the function the entire day. Finally he decided to keep the dress in her side of the cupboard.

A part of him was anxious about how did she like the present? A part of him was glad that she wore it. The color suited her in a way that it claimed to be hers. Standing in front of the dressing table, she opened the drawer to take  her jewelry boxes out. She looked beautiful, even more beautiful in her clumsy state, now that her fingers literally wrestled with the innocent dori which loosened even after she tried to tie it properly. He walked towards her. The arch in her stance was taking away life from him. His mind became succulently improper because she looked breathtakingly gorgeous. He wanted to caress her. Compliment her. Even kiss her.

May I? He asked in a husky tone. She gulped as he looked into the mirror. Her face adorned a shy shade of crimson. Her heart melted as their fingers brushed slightly. "Main baandh deta hoon sweet heart." She did not say a word, just nodded her head. Her gaze fixed somewhere on the floor. She was flinching in anticipation. With the slightest caress of his finger tips, Bani felt so delicate, like a porcelain doll. His fingers trailed down her freshly bathed skin.  He was working on the knot of her blouse so sincerely, like it is his habit.

Veer tied the dori a little too tight, knowing that it might loosen again. She gasped in gentle pain. He had a little more to do, she realized as he  fixed  the hooks of her blouse properly. "Veer" she spoke his name softly when he checked one last time if her blouse needed any more fixing. His palm followed upwards to get a grip over her shoulder wanting her to stand firm.

"Yeh rang tum par bohot jachta hai Bani"

She turned to look into his eyes. It was written in the way he looked at her, a chemistry, a seed of love, an invitation to learn more about him. His eyes are brown, stained with the color so rich, they engulf her in its warmth and make her feel at home. Those deep pools of dark-cinnamon swirls seized the depth and heaviness of one thousand untold stories, which imprisoned  sweetness  as well as bitterness. They consisted of raw emotion and if she could observe closely, they will reveal to her the exact thought that crosses the marvels of his  ominous mind.

On the other side of all that, His  eyes scintillated with a mischievous glint that could be noticed next to the umber that rimmed his iris. They glow with humor and playfulness that never seem to escape his being. Nevertheless, his  eyes also possess sorrow, a melancholic veil  cloaked on his eyes; it seemed as if it made the happiness in his eyes matte.

What is it that makes him happy when he chooses to be happy? What is it that is hurting him so much? Will he tell her if she asks him?

"Sweet heart agar tum mujhe aise hi dekhti rahi naa, toh tumhe mujhse pyaar ho jaaega. Phir se." Bani's trance broke.

"Tohfe ke liye shukriya Veer". She graced him with a smile. There was something about the way she smiled. He was sure butterflies seemed to escape from the pit of his stomach. Her smile made him so happy.

She tucked some  tendrils of her damp hair behind the ear. He was fascinated by how a bead of water trickled down the side of her cheek bone to tread softly down her jaw line teasing the skin of her neck and then disappearing in the deep neckline.

Veer saw that Bani was holding her mangalsutra in her hand. He took it and hooked it around her neck. He was so close. She could feel the heat emanating from his body. She liked the feeling of being so close to him. "Tumhaare itne kareeb rehna mujhe bhi bohot achha lagta hai Bani, lekin abhi neeche jana padega. Tum bhi jaldi se taiyyaar hokar neeche aa jaao. Sab intezaar kar rahe hai." He whispered in her ear.
